A Mother cat is sad today,
Her three kittens have gone away,
Taken by strangers to a new place;
She fears for the dangers they may face.

She knows it was time for them to go;
She just wishes it did not have to be so.
Mommy kitty with a tear in her eye
Meows to her babies and says goodbye.

Her Human friend tells her it will be all right;
They are off to good homes to start a new life.
The boy kitty has gone to a large family's home;
He will have many rooms in which to roam.

A home for the elderly with lots of love to give
Is where your two girls have gone to live.
So, Mommy kitty, it is OK to be sad,
For when your children leave home it hurts so bad.

You have raised them well and did all that you could,
Three well-behaved kittens and that is very good.
My sweet, dear friend, your babies will be fine,
And you will be forever mine.
