My name is Mary Ann, but some folks, including my husband, just call me Ann and if you remember "Kit's World of Music", that was me too. So I answer to any of those. :-) I'm originally from the Quad Cities which is a metropolitan area comprised of Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa, and Rock Island and Moline in western Illinois. I'm just old enough to remember the good old days, and young
enough to appreciate all this modern technology.
In addition to meeting with my WebTV friends in
cyberspace and web-surfing, my other hobbies include needle crafts, reading, going to movies and
plays, and taking long drives in the country
Dan is from the beautiful lakes area
of northern Minnesota, which is also near Itasca State Park where the headwaters of my beloved Mississippi River begin. In
addition to working and playing on the internet,
some of
his other interests and hobbies include enjoying
his extensive audio and video equipment, watching
old classic movies, reading, and working for environmental
causes.
Dan and I met while posting together in a WebTV newsgroup in November of 1998 and we soon became good e-mail friends. As we got to know each other better we realized, to our amazement, that our feelings were deeper than friendship. Here we were, two people in our 50's; neither of us ever married; both Catholic; both physically challenged; almost identical childhoods and family histories, with so many interests in common. We also both had assumed we'd be alone forever, but the Lord was to have other plans for us.
We finally met in person when I spent two weeks visiting him the following Christmas of '99. That moment when we saw each other for the first time will be frozen in our memories forever. It was late on a frigid December night and I arrived by Greyhound. When I stepped off the bus, Dan rushed up to me and enveloped me in the biggest bear hug I'd ever gotten. We looked into each other's eyes and we both knew without saying a word that what had started in cyberspace would grow in real life and that we had found our soulmates. Pretty romantic, huh? :-)

In May of 2000, I sold my home in the Quad Cities and moved up here to northern Minnesota to be with Dan permanently. For two years we lived happily in the same apartment building, two floors apart. We wanted very much to be married, but our individual apartments were way too tiny for two people to share and we had difficulty finding a more suitable home that we could afford.
Finally, in March of 2002, Dan officially popped the question during a romantic dinner at our favorite Italian Restaurant.
After finding just the right home for us, Dan and I tied the knot on July 27th, 2002, in a small but lovely church wedding witnessed by our close family and friends; and we are now happily settled into our new life together. Like most couples, we do hit an occassional little bump in the road, but the Lord is always there to get us through those times. We know what a gift we have been given and we know never to take it or each other for granted. Life is good. :-)

We hope our story will give some of you renewed hope, no matter your age or what your needs are. God does answer prayers, even though He takes His sweet time in some cases. :-) So never give up on on your dreams.
Thank you so much for taking time to read our love story and may God's blessings be on all of you.
