If your tired of looking at those old black & white photo's then there is a way to change them.
Using Paint Shop Pro 7 i can tell you how i made my black & whites more colorful.
Below is my step by step way i made the before and after pics at the bottom of this page.

1. Load your B&W image at Photo shop pro 7.....simple so far LOL.

2. Click the colors button at the top of the page and click colorize...
You should see a box with Hue and Saturation.
I start with....
Hue:25
Saturation:157
Then i play with the hue and try for the best skin tone i can get.
If it just won't get there try moving the saturation up and down a little at a time, then try the hue until your happy with what you want.

3. It's time to bring out the details so it's airbrush time.
Click the little spray can on the left side of the screen.
You should have a box there with opacity, hardness, density, and step.
Adjust the settings like this....
Opacity:5
Hardness:0
Step:25
Density:50
Then pick a color that you would like to see on the area your going to paint.
Remember the image already has highlights and shade so we don't want to completely color the sections your painting.
The airbrush should be painting a tint of the color you chose for that particular area and not completely covering with a solid color.
If needed adjust the density for the desired effect.

~Special Note~

If you are unable to get the colorize to work then move down and click on increase color depth.
Then click on 16 million colors (24 bit)
I always zoom way in on the area im coloring and adjust the brush size to fit in the tiny corners.
Also if you make a little boo boo just use the undo arrows up to the left LOL i got them about wore out LOL.
