Site Basics Page 3
HTML TAGs
Ok lets talk about those pesky HTML tags.
This is what the opening and closing tag looks like.
Opening: <<>html>
Closing: <<>/html>
There should only be one of each in any one page or e-mail sig code.
EXAMPLE:
<<>html>
<<>Body background="URL OF BACKGROUND"bgcolor="COLOR OF BACKGROUND"text="COLOR OF TEXT"><<>bgsound src="URL OF MUSIC"loop="-1"><<>img src="URL OF IMAGE">
<<>/body>
<<>/html>
Notice that there is only one opening <<>html> tag
and one closing <<>/html> tag.
The <<>html> tags basically tell the browser when to start reading a code (<<>html>) and when to stop (<<>/html>).
Here is an example of too many html tags.
~OH NO MRSAND NOT ANOTHER EXAMPLE!!~
Sorry but yes i have to so HUSH!
Too many html tags would be to a browser something like driving down a long street and hitting every red light.
You know how annoying that is right?
Stop and go...stop and go....stop and go...GEEEEEEZ make up my mind will ya?
It's hard for the poor little browser to figure out what your trying to make it read.
~Ummm Mrsand what is a browser anyway?~
Well it's like this.....it's sort of...ummm....it's like when you?....hmmm i'm not sure LOL.
Ok here is what i believe it is in my own simple minded way.
Say your in a library and your Browsing down the row of books ok?
Well your browser (your eye balls) see an <<>html> tag
(Gone With The Wind)....cool huh?
Well your browser (eye balls) start reading the book (code) all the way to the ending <<>/html> tag (Frankly Scarlett i don't give a darn)....small children might read this.
Ahh your browser is satisfied that it reached the end of the code and is ready for the next code.
I hope that i've helped you in the neverending battle to stop browser abuse LOL.
