UNKNOWN TIME
UNKNOWN LOCATION
The only time they untied her was to let her use the restroom. But since she was only given something to eat and drink once a day - that wasn’t very often. Time was running together and she’d lost track of how long she’d been gone. Two days? Three? She didn’t know anymore and in her bound state – blindfolded and gagged – she had no way to find out. She couldn’t even tell if it was day or night.
She didn’t remember a whole lot about how she got wherever ‘here’ was. She had been in bed asleep and never even heard them come inside her house. She was awakened sharply by a hand covering her mouth. She tried to get away – God, how she’d tried! But there had been at least three of them and somewhere in the struggle one put a chloroform-soaked rag over her mouth and nose.
She woke up to… this. This hell of not knowing where she was, who had kidnapped her – or even what they had planned. Most likely they were going to kill her. It would just be a matter of time until she’d served whatever usefulness they hoped to gain by having her. She willed herself not to cry. The tears would be a welcome release but they would only drain her further at this point. Her military training had taught her self-control if nothing else. She forced her thoughts away from the situation at hand and they drifted to a man she hadn’t seen in over a year. How she wished he were here with her now.
If anyone at all could save her from the men who took her – it would be him.
She knew that without a doubt – even though the last time she’d seen him it was a parting in anger. No matter what they’d said to each other or how they’d left things - if he knew where she was right now he’d come after her without a second’s hesitation. She was more certain of that than she’d ever been of anything else in her life. Because she knew he loved her as much now as he had back then. And she would bet her life on that.
