Synopsis of Employment Contract


NAME: TUVIM, JUDITH (JUDY HOLLIDAY professional name) File No. 5610.

DATE OF CONTRACT: September 8, 1943. Closed 12-17-44

NATURE OF EMPLOYMENT: ACTRESS. (To render services in motion pictures, radio, theatrical, television and personal appearances.)

CONTRACT PERIOD: One (1) Year, commencing December 18,1943 upon day following completion of all services required of artist in connection with one (1) motion picture (GREENWICH VILLAGE) in which producer will utilize her services under terms and conditions of a contract between artist and producer, dated September 8, 1943. (40 weeks' employment guaranteed)

SALARY: $400.00 per week.

OPTIONS: Commencing Salary
(a) One (1) Year At expiration of original term. $750.00 per week.
(b) One (1) Year At expiration of Option (a). $1,250.00 per week.
(c) One (1) Year At expiration of Option (b). $2,000.00 per week.
(d) One (1) Year At expiration of Option (c). $2,500.00 per week.
(e) One (1) Year At expiration of Option (d). $3,000.00 per week.
(f) One (1) Year At expiration of Option (e). $3,500.00 per week.
(40 weeks' employment guaranteed during each 1-year renewal term.)

NOTICE OF OPTIONS: Fifteen (15) Days.*

TRANSPORTATION: Location transportation elsewhere than within fifteen (15) miles from city or place where producer is actively engaged in producing motion pictures.

LENDING RIGHTS: Producer may lend services of artist to any other person, firm or corporation.

PUBLICITY REQUIREMENTS: None. Producer may select, make use of and describe artist by a professional name.

WARDROBE: Artist shall furnish shoes, hosiery and underclothing and any other suitable wearing apparel she may possess; producer shall furnish all costumes.

SPECIAL PROVISIONS: * All notices from producer to artist to be in writing, addressed to artist in care of Frank W. Vincent Agency, 242 No. Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, Cailf., or may be delivered to artist personally, either orally or in writing.

Artist agrees at her own expense, to have such dental work done as may be necessary in opinion of producer, said work to be done within 60 days after requested by producer; provided, however, that such request shall be made within 60 days after commencement of term of employment. In event artist fails to have said work performed after it is so requested by producer, producer may, at its option, cancel contract upon ten (10) days' notice to artist.

"November 17, 1943: Letter addressed to artist and confirmed by her, establishes October 25, 1943, as the starting date of her services."

"Please post your resume sheet covering the term contract with JUDITH TUVIM, actress, dated September 8, 1943, as follows:
"December 21,1943: Letter addressed to artist and confirmed by her, establishes December 18, 1943, as commencement date of term of employment."

MEMO: From Geo. Wasson, August 1, 1944, as follows:
"July 10, 1944: Letter addressed to artist and accepted by her, designates JUDY HOLLIDAY as her professional name."

MEMO: From Robert H. Patton, October 11, 1944, as follows:
"The Salary Stabilization Unit of the U.S. Bureau of Internal Revenue has approved the optional salary rates prescribed in the abovenamed employee's contract dated Semptember 8, 1943."

MEMO: From Lew Schreiber to Mr. Wasson, November, 21, 1944, as follows:
"We are not going to excercise this option."

MEMO: From Geo. Wasson, December 18, 1944, as follows:
"The option contained in the contract between the Corporation and JUDY HOLLIDAY, Actress, (real name Judith Tuvim), has not been exercised, and the contract has been completed and closed as of December 17, 1944."
