Judy Holliday's PSA For
The American Cancer Society
JUDY HOLLIDAY: "Friends, I'm here to bring you good news and thanks. Good news about the progress in the attack on cancer and thanks to all of you. Thanks from the American Cancer Society for your gifts which helped save so many lives. Cancer will strike one in four Americans. It's frightening, isn't it? But do you realize how many are being saved today?"
JUDY HOLLIDAY: (Judy Holliday's voice is heard over photos showing various cancer survivors) "This little boy had cancer, but he is cured. This clam fisherman, but he's cured. This motion picture technician had cancer...cured. This bleach manufacturer had cancer, but he's cured. These are four of hundreds of thousands that have been saved. But too many we love are still being lost. Do you know that more school children die of cancer than any other disease?"
JUDY HOLLIDAY: "We must strike back at cancer. Give, and give generously, to your unit of the American Cancer Society. It's so easy to do. Just mail your gift in an envelope and address it like this - Cancer, in care of your local post office."
NARRATOR: "The foregoing subject has been presented by this theater as a public service."
