Congratulations and welcome to your new "home" at the WTV-Zone!Now that you are here, you are probably wondering how to move your belongings in. We are going to take you step by step in this tutorial to make the transition as easy as possible. It is a very simple process that will have you moved in a flash! The site mover can be used to move an entire site or a single directory.
NOTE: Please check HERE to make sure the site mover can be used to move your site, or whether you need to use another method.
- First you must check the site you are going to move and make sure you have no index pages in your main or sub-directories. If you do just rename them until you get them moved.
Example: rename index.html to main.html
- Now you need to get the url to the site you want to move. You can click on your main (index) page and hit "go to" on your keyboard and click "show current". This will give you the url of your site.
Depending on where your site is located it will look something like this..
http://www.wtv-zone.com/moonbeam/main.htmlWhile you have it in your options box delete the last part of the url. Example: delete /main.html. Now hit "cmd a" and then "cmd x" and this will get your url ready to paste in the site mover.
- Go to your WTV-Zone file manager and look at the function bar at the top of the page. Click on Site Mover in the right hand corner and this will bring up the mover screen. Go to the first box labeled Site Url and delete the http that is already there. Then hit "cmd v" pasting your site url in the box.
Leave the Destination Directory blank.
Type in your email address in the Notification Address box and this will send an automatic email to you when your site has finished the move. Then click on "move site". You are finished!
- To move a single subdirectory follow the same instructions as above. The only difference is that you would go to the actual subdirectory and get the url. Then in the Site Mover indicate in the Destination Directory box where you want it moved to. If you leave it blank it will place it in your main or root directory. To move directories, you can also use the Multi-File Beamer
Leave the checkboxes next to "recurse subdirectories" and "change absolute urls " checked.Recurse Subdirectories simply "tells" the site mover to follow the directories down to the deepest subdirectory to move the contents to the WTV-Zone.
Change Absolute Urls tells the site mover to take out the part of the addresses in the original url's that pertain to the site you're moving from, changing them to "relative" links.
