Here we go, fire up those printers because
you are going to need them.
If there is
an easier way to do this, I don't know it, but
this is the way I have always done it and it
works for me.
I want to clarify
something right from the start so that you won't
get confused. When I say "choose", go to the top
of the page and choose the tab that I will
specify. If I use the words "click on" it means
just that. There will be a clickable on the page
that you are working on.
2 - Type in the URL of the image that you want to
frame, and click on view.
3 - When your image appears on the page, choose
resize.
4 - When you get to this page, you will see a
rectangular box with some numbers in it. Delete
them and type in 185x245! for the heavy frame, or
195x270! for the narrower frame. (If your image
is wider than it is high, reverse the numbers.
They would be 245x185! for the heavy frame, and
270x195! for the lighter one) The exclamation
point is very important, or it won't work.
Don't worry about the shape of the frame because
we are going to get to that. Click on zoom if it
isn't already lit up, but it usually is, and
click on resize.
5 - When your resized image appears, choose
output, and on the next page, you will
see a box where you can pick the format for
your image. Click on jpg, then click on single
file, and click on output.
6 - Now you are ready to transload this image
back to your site. Scroll down a little, and you
will see a transloader on this page. Don't
forget to rename your
image.
NOW YOU ARE READY TO
FRAME
1 - Go back to ImageMagick and type in the URL of
the frame of your choice, then click on view.
2 - If your image is wider than high, choose
transform. Click on rotate right, and click on
transform. Now the frame will be the correct
shape for your image. If your image is higher
than wide, skip this step and proceed to step
3
3 - Choose composite. Type in the URL of the
image to be framed. The word "center" should
already be in the location box, and also the word
"over" in the other box. Click on composite.
Your image is now framed!!
(Note--If you don't like the size of your image, choose resize again and type in the size you would like your image to be. Don't forget the exclamation point! Click on resize, and proceed to the next step.)
4 - Follow steps 5 and 6 from the previous
instructions.
I know this all sounds very complicated, but
after you have done it a few times, it's a piece
of cake. The entire process should only take
about 5 minutes, if that long.
I hope you
enjoy these frames. If you have any problems,
please e-mail me at fdolce@webtv.net and I will
try to help.
Once again, GOOD
LUCK!!
SOMETHING NEW!!!!
OK, gang, listen up!! Sometimes we have a square image, and when we resize it to a rectangular shape, it distorts. The same holds true if we have a square background, and reshape it, so here is a way to frame square images without any distortion.
1 - Take your image to ImageMagick, put in the URL, and bring it up on the screen.
2 - Choose decorate, delete the parameters that are already in the box, and put in 5x5, but no more than 7x7, depending on how wide you want it to be.
3 - Pick the color of your choice to compliment the image, and click on either border or frame, once again, a matter of choice, and click on decorate. WRITE DOWN THE SIZE!!
4 - When your resized image appears, choose output, and on the next page, you will see a box where you can pick the format for
your image. Click on jpg, then click on single file, and click on output.
5 - Now you are ready to transload this image
back to your site. Scroll down a little, and you
will see a transloader on this page. Don't
forget to rename your
image.
6 - Find a background that would make a nice frame for your image, and take it to ImageMagick.
7 - Resize it to be 30 or 40 pixels bigger than the image all around, depending on how wide you want your frame to be. For instance, if your image was 200x200, you would resize the background to be 260x260 for 30 pixels bigger, and 280x280 for 40 pixels around.
8 - Choose composite, put in the URL of your bordered image, and click on composite. DON'T touch any other settings that are already there. Now your image will be on the background.
9 - Choose decorate, and here you are really on your own. I usually put in 12x12 for the smaller frame, and 15x15 for the wider one. Click on raise, and click on decorate.
10 - If you want to put a small frame around it again, choose decorate, put in 7x7 for parameters, pick a color, and click on frame and decorate. This step is not necessary, but you can get as fancy as you want. EXPERIMENT!!!
11 - When you're finished, choose output, and on the next page, you will see a box where you can pick the format for your image. Click on jpg, then click on single file, and click on output.
12 - Now you are ready to transload this image
back to your site. Scroll down a little, and you
will see a transloader on this page. Don't forget to rename your image.
