Australian Cattle Dog
Breed in Brief

The Australian Cattle Dog was originally bred in the mid-nineteenth century to work cattle in the rough inland terrain of Australia. Today this sturdy, alert and watchful dog is a valuable asset to farmers and ranchers around the world. The coat is short and harsh, and comes in two colors. Red dogs are uniformly red speckled; blue dogs are blue mottled. Both red and blue dogs may have black patches on the head and/or a white spot on the forehead. The coat is easy to care for. Regular bathing and brushing will keep it clean and healthy. Bred to herd all day, Australian Cattle Dogs have a lot of energy. These intelligent, trustworthy dogs are devoted to their owners and especially love to play with children. Height at shoulder: 17-20". Weight: 40-45 lbs. AKC group: Herding Dogs.
