DESCENDANTS OF TOBIAS SAUNDERS AND MARTHA HALL
Tobias was born in Westerly 28 Mar 1732. The son of Stephen Saunders and Rachael Bliven.
He married MARTHA HALL in Westerly 9 Apr 1752
She was born in Charlestown, Washington County, Rhode Island 24 Feb 1735.
Daughter of John Hall and Elizabeth


They had a large farm in Charlestown , according to his will.
There was an orchard, cider mill, they raised Indian Corn for flour, they had cows, sheep, chickens, geese, hogs and horses.


He died 13 May 1809 in Charlestown and Martha died 20 Jun 1805.


They are buried in the "Saunders Lot" in Charlestown which is on the south side of Burdickville Road
There are about seven graves there.


Tobias and Martha had 12 children:

1. MERCY or Mary SAUNDERS born in Charlestown 20 Sep 1752 and died 19 Apr 1822.
She married SAMUEL LANGWORTHY 24 Jan 1771 in Hopkinton, Rhode Island.
He was born 27 Nov 1745 in Westerly, son of Samuel Langworthy and Mary Crandall.

2. JOHN SAUNDERS born 1 Apr 1754 at Westerly.
Died 13 Jul 1812 at Harpersville, Broome County, New York.

He married MARY CLOSSON 25 Sep 1775 at Westerly.
She was born 30 Jul 1754 in Charlestown. Daughter of Ichabod Closson and Elizabeth ?.
She died 22 Mar 1822 at Harpersville.

Their children are:

ROWLAND SAUNDERS born 1 Nov 1777 at Harpersville.
Died 30 May 1778 at Harpersville.

DORCAS SAUNDERS born 16 Apr 1779 at Harpersville.
She died 12 Jul 1858.

she married GEORGE HILL WAKEMAN 12 Mar 1796 at Harpersville.
He was born 5 Apr 1766 at Harpersville. Son of Samuel Wakeman and Mary Hill.

LYDIA SAUNDERS born 27 Apr 1781 at Harpersville.

TOBIAS SAUNDERS born 4 Dec 1783 at Harpersville.
Died 22 Jun 1849.

MARTHA SAUNDERS born at Harpersville 5 Apr 1786.
Died 23 Oct 1823.

LUCY SAUNDERS born 19 Jul 1788 at Harpersville.
