THOMAS CLARKE born in Westerly 24 Jan 1776. Died in Westerly 17 Mar 1864. He was a farmer. Also, a Justice of the Peace His house was used as the town jail. Thomas was usually called "Clarke" and was considered the salt of the earth. The poor and the afflicted always found in him an arm ofstrength upon who, they could dpend in their hour of need. He was gored by a vicious bull and was crippled.
