DESCENDANTS OF ELISHA P. SAUNDERS AND SARA?





ELISHA was born in Charlestown, Washington County, Rhode Island 4 Dec 1781.
Son of Luke Saunders and Dorcas Saunders.

SARA?: According to the Census Records, Sara was born in Rhode Island circa ™™™™™™™™™™™™™™™

ONE DAUGHTER MARY C. born circa 1826 in Brookfield, Madison Co., NY. She married a man with the last name of FRENCH and lived in North Norwich, New York.

ELISHA T. SAUNDERS born in Brookfield 10 Mar 1828.


JOHN C. SAUNDERS born circa 1836 in Chenango Co., NY

LUKE SAUNDERS born circa 1840 in Chenango Co., NY

Also, supposed to be a son PALICK OR PELEGaccording to the diary. However, no mention in the 1850 Census.

Jennie says that her Grandfather told her that when he was a year old, the family moved to Greene, Chenango County, New York and stayed there until 1843 when they moved to Sanford, Broome County, New York..

That would make it around 1829.

However, they do not show up in the census records until in Sanford.
Elisha P. is listed in the 1850 census for Sanford. He does not show up in the 1860 census but Sara does. Which means he died during that ten year period and is buried somewhere in the area.

Sara is not listed in the 1870 census so she would have died during that ten year period.

The Brookfield Historian has said that Elisha was married to Elizabeth "Betsey" Greene. However, I see no sign of Betsey with Elisha.The Greene Geneology states that Betsey died in Boone County, Illinois. In checking their cemeteries, I find no Betsey under the name of Greene or Saunders. If she is buried there it is under another married name. This is still being researched.
