Saturday, Jan. 19 2002. 4:15 am. A freezing cold morning, when the door to door van pulled up at the front door for a 25 minute trip to San Jose Airport. It was winter in California. A great reason to go for some real sun.
In Tahiti. Because of the expected securitiy crunch an early flight from San Jose to LAX was chosen and wisely so as it turned out that the UA express plane had to literally thaw out causing a 2 hour delay. Once at the LAX international terminal
the lines were endless but somehow I made it. And after an 8 hour flight on Air Tahiti Nui I set foot on Tahitian Soil! |

And boy was it warm. The only airconditioning at the Faaa airport were ceiing fans. Great when you stood under them. Of course, I should add, that I was still in my California winter attire!!! From Tahiti to Moorea was a short hop in a small prop plane. Then a trip in almost pitch black night to the hotel. The next morning the sun shone bright and warm and I could see where I really was......in paradise......
