 Haere Mai! Welcome! Finally my wish to go "down under" came true. And what a vacation it turned out to be. When I announced my plans the reaction was usually: "Why just 8 days and only in Auckland? You'll get bored!" Well, eight days was all that my budget allowed and I stayed in Auckland because I try to avoid packaged trips where one spends most of ones time packing and unpacking, never seeing enough of a place to really get to know it. I stayed in Auckland and tried to experience it as if I lived there, getting around on foot, by bus, train and ferry and only booked one day tour to Rotorua
