This tutorial assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP. It explains how I achieve a 'torn edge' look on my scrapbooking images, using PSP9. It's a very quick tutorial. I have included some examples for the steps. I hope it is easy to follow along. Enjoy.....Nef
1. For demo, I am using 1st layer color of #3BA28F. 2. Create new Layer---floodfill with #7B5F41. (or your choice of color.) 3. Add a texture of choice. I used 'Hatch Medium Lump' at a depth of 4. 4. Create a new layer. Set the foreground color to a very light hue of the color you're using. I used #DAD0C6. 5. Select Paint Brush Tool, use 'Line Right', click 'okay.' Settings: Shape=square; Size=32; Hardness=100; Step=10; Density=100; Thickness=1; Rotation=45; Opacity=100; Blend Mode=Normal. 6. Starting at top of image, drag the paintbrush in a jerky motion to the bottom. 7. Add texture of choice. I used 'Paper Contrast' at a depth of 2. |

8. Use the 'Deform Tool' on the 'tear,' pushing it sideways, until it is as narrow as you desire. Note: I make the 'tear' wider to begin with, as I seem to have more control on the look of the tear. |

9. Make SURE you activate your SECOND layer. 10. Using the 'Freehand Selection' tool, draw a line down the middle of layer 3, (the tear), and around the edges. 11. Hit your 'delete' key to dispose of the unwanted selection on layer two. |

12. Merge layer 2 and layer 3 together. Add a drop shadow to the merged layer. That's it.....a torn edge! |

Here's a small finished example using this technique. Also see my banner above. |
