My nic is Nefertiti, and this is my first attempt at a PSP tutorial. I enjoy digital scrapbooking, ephemera, and making images to print out for myself. I'm an avid webtv user, but I love jumping on the puter to do my imaging. Here is my version of a couple of vintage buttons that can be made in PSP9. This tute is my own, any resemblance to another is purely coincidental. This tute may not be reproduced.

1. Open transparent layer the size you wish for your button. I used 100x100.

2. Effects>Artistic>Balls & Bubbles:
Check 'Single ball or bubble.'

2a. Under Surface Tab: Opacity=100; Shininess=56; Gloss=33

2b. Under Maps Tab: Check 'Bump Map Box', Open Bumpmap Images and select 'Gold Filigree.' Set smoothness=0; depth=100. Check 'Fit bumpmap' box.

2c. Still under Maps Tab: Check 'Environment map.' Open Environment images and select 'Rust.' Check "environment map circle.'

2d. Under Illumination Tab: Set Maximum=51; Minimum=32; Lights 1; Color=#7F6566; Highlight size=25. Click 'Okay' button.

3. Go to Adjust>Brightness/Contrast: Brightness=13; Contrast=23. Hit 'Okay' button.

Optional....

4. To add more depth around the edge:
Selections>Select All
Selections>Select Float
Selections>Select Invert
Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow with settings: Vertical=0; Horizontal=0; Opacity=74; Blur=48; Color=#000000. Hit 'Okay' button.
Selections>Select None.

5. Using Selection Tool>Circle: Make two or four small holes in center of button.

6. Save as .png or .psp file for further use. Enjoy!

NOTE: On second button, I used the "Swirl" bump map image, and all the settings remained the same.
