On the docks they stood, alone and afraid
Sea gulls screaming above
A better life is what they seek; more freedom, more love
They have heard of a land where it's theirs to have
But first there is the Voyage!

On moon lite nights, they stood on deck; eyes looking for the peace
They knew was soon to come, but still it was just out of reach
The ship, tossing and turning, as waves broke over the bow
Storm clouds rushing towards the ship as if they were not going to allow them the peace
Hands clasped in prayer and heads hung low
They prayed to God to let them make this Voyage

The sun was shining, and the waters calm
I believe it was just at dawn
High above their heads, a voice called out, "Land Ho"
Hearts beating fast all came from below
They stood at the rails eyes full of joy
Each women, man and each little boy
From out of the mist rose trees and much green
A rock to the side
And they knew the trip was over, such a long ride
No name was there for this new land, but we know it now
The voyage God had led them, and had allowed
Was to America!
