FULL SCREEN SIGS

Before practicing the full screen sig, there are a few things you need to know.

  • Each background must be sized to 560x412 at IM and then optimized. I recommend using the Image Optimizer by GifBOT which can be entered through GEST Workshop and Tool Center. Try to obtain the lowest kb possible without sacrificing the quality of the image. I try for no higher than 25kb.

  • The Go Down Bug is explained very well by Dee aka Lady S: Even when the proper co-ordinates are used (top: -180; left: -122 for (two line name groups), you may still get a large gap at the top of full page css sigs. The reason is something we call the GD BUG ("Go Down Bug"). It is really not a bug at all. We have learned that it is caused when the time zone portion of the date/time header line drops down to its own line: Date: Tue, Oct 16, 2001, 10:00am           (EDT-3) This adds a line to headers and causes the css sig to be pulled down. The date/time sensitive GD BUG only strikes during certain dates of the month and only at certain times: DATES - When the date has two digits. That is, from the 10th through the 31st of the month. We never get the GD Bug the 1st through the 9th. TIMES - When the time has four digits. That is from 10:00 through 12:59. We never get the GD Bug from 1:00 through 9:59.

  • To convert a WAV to a GIF. If you want this sound to repeat, then place it in a div. If you want it to occur only once, place it in the embed code.

  • Paste the entire code into your Sig Box and have fun! Create a file at your server to practice with. I put my Sig Box on an F key and test my FSS on my write screen. Or go to DynaSig. Leave radio button on Private. The tags <script> & </script> don't work at Dynasig2 so just delete them for testing.

  • Please T/L http://www.wtv-zone.com/derbest/clear.gif and http://www.wtv-zone.com/derbest/Imaging/spaceranim.gif and replace with your GIFs.

  • All codes and instructions I have learned from Marty at Sigheadz.
