Amaya died April 11, 2004 from hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California.

Army Spc. Jason E. Ames, 21, of Cerulean, Kentucky

Ames died on August 31, 2005, in Mosul, Iraq, from non-combat related injuries.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington.

Army Pfc. John D. Amos, II, 22, of Valparaiso, Indiana

Amos died April 4, 2004 in Kirkuk, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device hit his military vehicle.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Army Cpl. Andy D. Anderson, 24, of Falls Church, Virginia

Anderson died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq on June 6, 2006 when their camp received indirect enemy fire during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 46th Engineer Battalion, Fort Rucker, Alabama.

Marine Lance Cpl. Brian E. Anderson, 26, of Durham, North Carolina

Anderson died April 2, 2003 in a non-hostile accident.

He was assigned to the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Navy Hospitalman Christopher A. Anderson, 24, of Longmont, Colorado

Anderson died December 4, 2006 as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was a Navy Corpsman assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, based in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Army Pfc. Danny L. Anderson, 29, of Corpus Christi, Texas

Anderson died February 27, 2005 in Baghdad, Iraq, from injuries sustained from small arms fire.

He was assigned to 26th Forward Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Army Sgt. Ian C. Anderson, 22, of Prairie Village, Kansas

Anderson died January 15, 2007 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Army Pfc. Joshua R. Anderson, 24, of Jordan, Minnesota

Anderson died January 2, 2008 in Kamasia, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Carl L. Anderson Jr., 21, of Georgetown, South Carolina

Anderson died August 29, 2004 as result of enemy action near Mosul, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 3rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael C. Anderson, 36, of Daytona, Florida

Anderson died May 2, 2004 in the Al Anbar Province as a result of hostile fire.

He was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, Jacksonville, Florida.

Anderson died March 10, 2008 in Balad Ruz, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

Anderson died near Tal Afar, Iraq, on January 7, 2006 when his UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed.

Army Pfc. Travis W. Anderson, 28, of Hooper, Colorado

Anderson died May 13, 2005 in Bayji, Iraq, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Victor A. Anderson, 39, of Ellaville, Georgia

Anderson died on July 30, 2005 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV while on patrol.

He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment, 48th Infantry Brigade, Albany, Georgia.

Army Pvt. Edwin A. Andino II, 23, of Culpeper, Virginia

Andino died on September 3, 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Wurzburg, Germany.

Army Spc. Michael Andrade, 28, of Bristol, Rhode Island

Andrade died on September 24, 2003 in Balad, Iraq. Andrade was a passenger in a HMMWV when a 5-ton truck struck the side of his vehicle.

He was assigned to the 115th Military Police Company, U.S. Army National Guard, Cranston, Rhode Island.

Army Master Sgt. Joseph J. Andres, Jr., 34, of Seven Hills, Ohio

Andres died in Balad, Iraq, on December 24, 2005 of injuries sustained earlier that day in Baqubah, Iraq, when he was attacked by enemy forces during combat operations.

He was assigned to the Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Army Spc. Harley D. Andrews, 22, of Weimar, California

Andrews died on September 11, 2006 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, of injuries suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 54th Engineer Battalion, 130th Engineer Brigade, Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany.

Army Spc. Yoe M. Aneiros, 20, of Newark, New Jersey

Aneiros died September 7, 2004 in Sadr City when his patrol vehicle came under attack by enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenades.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.

Marine Lance Cpl. Levi T Angell, 20, of Saint Louis, Minnesota

Angell died April 8, 2004 due to injuries received from hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to Combat Service Support Group 11, 1st Force Service Support Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Army Spc. Edward J. Anguiano, 24, of Brownsville, Texas

On March 23, 2003 Spc. Anguiano was in a six-vehicle convoy on Highway 7 in Iraq when enemy forces ambushed them. His remains were recovered on April 24, 2003.

He was assigned to 3rd Combat Support Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Marine Master Sgt. Brett E. Angus, 40, of St. Paul, Minnesota

Angus died November 26, 2005 from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the vicinity of Camp Taqaddum, Iraq.

He was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron-372, Marine Wing Support Group-37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, his unit was attached to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Army Pfc. Joseph J. Anzack, Jr., 20, of Torrance, California

Anzack was captured May 12, 2007 by enemy forces in Al Taqa, Iraq, when his unit was attacked by insurgents using automatic fire and explosives. His body was recently recovered in Iraq. The circumstances surrounding his capture and death remain under investigation.

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.

Marine Staff Sgt. Faoa L. Apineru, 31, of Yorba Linda, California

Apineru died July 2, 2007, from wounds sustained May 15, 2005 while supporting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

He was assigned to Headquarters Company, 23rd Marines, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve.

Army Sgt. Matthew S. Apuan, 27, of Las Cruces, New Mexico

Apuan died February 18, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his unit came in contact with the enemy using small arms fire while on combat patrol.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Army Sgt. John D. Aragon, 22, of Antioch, California

Aragon died June 12, 2008 in Kadamiyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Army Sgt. Kurtis D. K. Arcala, 22, of Palmer, Alaska

Arcala died on September 11, 2005, in Tikrit, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position during convoy escort operations.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Army Pfc. Elden D. Arcand, 22, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota

Arcand died on August 21, 2005, in Mosul, Iraq, when his M915A1 tractor pulling a 7,500-gallon tanker accidentally rolled over.

He was assigned to the 360th Transportation Company, 68th Corps Support Battalion, 43rd Area Support Group, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Army Pfc. Michael A. Arciola, 20, of Elmsford, New York

Arciola died February 15, 2005 in Al Ramadi, Iraq, from injuries sustained from enemy small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503d Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea.

Army Sgt. Brian Daniel Ardron, 32, of Acworth, Georgia

Ardron died May 21, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when multiple improvised explosive devices detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Marine Sgt. Julian M. Arechaga, 23, of Oceanside, New York

Arechaga died October 9, 2006 while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Arellano died on August 17, 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his patrol encountered enemy forces using improvised explosive devices and small arms fire.

Argel died May 30, 2005 in the crash of an Iraqi air force aircraft during a training mission in eastern Diyala province.

He was assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida.

Army Sgt. Roberto Arizola, Jr., 31, of Laredo, Texas

Arizola died June 8, 2005 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV.

He was assigned to the 297th Military Intelligence Battalion, 513th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort Gordon, Georgia.

Armand died August 7, 2007 in Balad, Iraq.

Army Spc. Raymond S. Armijo, 22, of Phoenix, Arizona

Armijo died in Taji, Iraq, on October 2, 2006 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to the 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Arndt died in Kirkuk, Iraq, on September 21, 2005 as a result of a vehicle accident during convoy operations.

He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 163rd Cavalry Troop, 116th Brigade Combat Team, 42nd Infantry Division, Missoula, Montana.

Arnold died April 22, 2003 when a rocket-propelled grenade launcher they were firing for familiarization malfunctioned.

Army Staff Sgt. Daniel L. Arnold, 27, of Montrose, Pennsylvania

Arnold died on September 28, 2005 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, when his M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle was attacked by enemy forces using indirect fire.

He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, New Milford, Pennsylvania.

Arredondo died August 25, 2004 as result of enemy action in An Najaf, Iraq.

Marine Cpl. Carlos Arrelanopandura, 22, of Los Angeles, California

Arrelanopandura died January 20, 2006 from a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations in Haqlaniyah, Iraq.

He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, their unit was attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Army Spc. Richard Arriaga, 20, of Ganado, Texas

Arriaga died September 18, 2003 in Tikrit, Iraq in an ambush by small arms fire and rocket propelled grenade.

He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas.

Marine Staff Sgt. Jimmy J. Arroyave, 30, of Woodland, California

Arroyave died April 15, 2004 due to a non-combat related vehicle accident northeast of Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

Ashcraft died July 24, 2003, north of Al Hawd, Iraq, when his military convoy came under enemy fire.

Aston died February 22, 2005 as a result of a non-hostile vehicle incident in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to Marine Force Reserve’s 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Austin, Texas.

Atkins died in Baghdad, Iraq, on December 10, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near her HMMWV during patrol operations.

She was assigned to the 64th Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

Atkins died June 14, 2004 in Baghdad, Iraq, as a result of a non-combat injury.

Aubin died March 20, 2003 when his CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crashed about 9 miles south of the Iraqi border town Umm Qasr.

He was assigned to the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona.

Air Force Master Sgt. Steven E. Auchman, 37, of Waterloo, New York

Auchman died November 9, 2004 from injuries received when multiple rocket propelled grenades struck his location in Mosul, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 5th Air Support Operations Squadron, Fort Lewis, Washington.

August died January 27, 2004 in an improvised explosive device attack in Khalidiyah, just east of Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

Army Sgt. Jesse A. Ault, 28, of Dublin, Virginia

Ault died April 9, 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq, from wounds suffered in Tunnis, Iraq, when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 429th Brigade Support Battalion, Virginia Army National Guard, Roanoke, Virginia.

Aultz died January 30, 2007 in Ramadi, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations.

Avery died April 23, 2007 in Muqudadiyah, Iraq, from wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated during checkpoint operations.

He was assigned to the 571st Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade, Fort Lewis, Washington.

Marine Lance Cpl. Andrew Julian Aviles, 18, Palm Beach, Florida

Aviles died April 7, 2003 in Central Iraq when an enemy artillery round struck the Amphibious Assault Vehicle in which he was riding.

He was assigned to 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Tampa, Florida.

Air Force Staff Sgt. Alejandro Ayala, 26, of Riverside, California

Ayala died November 18, 2007 of injuries sustained as a result of a vehicle accident in Kuwait.

Ayala died December 28, 2006 in Taji, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit while on combat patrol.

He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Marine Pfc. Eric A. Ayon, 26, of Arleta, California

Ayon died April 9, 2004 from hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Army Sgt. Robert T. Ayres III, 23, of Los Angeles, California

Ayres died September 29, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.

Army Pfc. Lionel Ayro, 22, of Jeanerette, Louisiana

Ayro died December 21, 2004 in Mosul, Iraq, when his dining facility was attacked.

He was assigned to the 73rd Engineer Company, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington.
