Killed in combat.


Corporal Russell Aston, 30, from Swadlincote, Derbyshire

Killed in action in southern Iraq on June 24, 2003.


Major Matthew Bacon, 34, from London

Bacon died September 11, 2005, when his armored SNATCH land rover was attacked in Basrah City by an improvised explosive device.

He was serving as a staff officer with the Headquarters of Multi-National Division (South East) (MND(SE)).


Major Steve Ballard

Ballard died March 30, 2003, from natural causes.


Private Craig Barber, 20, from Ogmore Vale

Barber died August 6, 2007 in Basra City, Iraq by small arms fire while driving a Warrior vehicle.

He served with the 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh.


Sergeant Duane "Baz" Barwood, 41, of Carterton, Oxfordshire

Barwood died February, 29 2008, as a result of a rocket attack on the Contingency Operating Base in Basra.

He was attached to 903 Expeditionary Air Wing, Royal Air Force.


Major Nick Bateson, 49 of Chislehurst, Kent

Bateson was killed in a road traffic accident in Basra, Iraq on May 1, 2007.

He served with the Corps of Royal Signals.


Sergeant John Battersby, 31, from Lancashire

Battersby died November 20, 2007 when the RAF Puma helicopter he was traveling in crashed.

He served with the Special Air Service (SAS) regiment.


Leading Aircraftman Martin Beard, 20 from Rainworth

Beard died August 7, 2007 of a gunshot wound when his patrol came under attack as it moved through Al Waki Market in Basra Iraq.

He served with No 1 squadron royal Air Force Regiment.


Fusilier Russell Beeston, 26, from Govan

Fatally wounded during an incident at Ali As Sharqi on August 27, 2003.

A Territorial Army soldier in the 52nd Lowland Regiment (Volunteers). Attached to the 1st Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers in Iraq.


Second Lieutenant Jonathan Carlos Bracho-Cooke, 24, of Hove

Bracho-Cooke died February 5, 2007 as a result of injuries sustained by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack against his patrol in the As Sarraji District of Basra City.

He was a member of 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment serving with Chindit Company.


Lance Corporal Alan Brackenbury, 21, from East Riding, Yorkshire

Brackenbury died in the early hours of Sunday 29 May 2005, during an incident to the South of Al Amarah, Iraq.

He was a member of the King's Royal Hussars and was serving with A Squadron, part of the 1 STAFFORDS battlegroup in Iraq.


Lance Corporal Dennis Brady, 37, of Barrow-in-furness

Brady died as a result a result of wounds received from a mortar round fired at his base in northern Basra on October 1, 2006.

He was a Royal Army Medical Corps Regular Reservist attached to the 1st Battalion the Light Infantry,


Lance Corporal Shaun Andrew Brierley of Herford

Killed in a road accident.


Corporal Jeremy "Jez" Brookes, 28, of Birmingham

Brookes died May 21, 2007 in Basra City, Iraq as a result of injuries sustained from a small arms fire attack on his patrol.

He served with the 4th Battalion The Rifles.


Nicholas Brown, 34, from Hunderton, Herefordshire

Brown died March 26, 2008 as a result of gunshot wounds sustained during a battle in Baghdad, Iraq.

He served with the Special Air Service (SAS) regiment.


Chief Technician Richard Antony Brown, Royal Air Force

Brown was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. An avionics specialist, aged 40 and divorced, he served with the Engineering Wing at RAF Lyneham, the home-base for all RAF Hercules.


Lance Corporal James Cartwright, 21, of London

Cartwright died June 16, 2007 in a vehicle accident in Southern Iraq.

He served with the Badger Squadron, 2nd Royal Tank Regiment.


Lance Sergeant Chris Casey, 27, of London

Casey died August 9, 2007 in southern Iraq when his Snatch Armored Land Rover was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device.

He served with the 1st Battalion, Irish Guards.


Senior Aircraftsman Matthew Caulwell, Sr., 22, from Birmingham

Caulwell died July 19, 2007 from a rocket attack in Basrah, Iraq.

He was a member of No 1 Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment.


Colour Sergeant John Cecil of Plymouth

At around midnight GMT on 21 March, 2003, a US Marine Corps CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crashed south of the Kuwait border with US and UK personnel aboard; there were no survivors. Eight personnel from 3 Commando Brigade died in the accident, along with four US aircrew.


Lieutenant Commander Darren Chapman, 40

Chapman died May 6, 2006 in Basra City, Iraq when his Lynx helicopter crashed.

He was assigned to the Royal Navy and was the Commanding Officer of 847 Naval Air Squadron based at Yeovilton.


Corporal Lee Churcher 32, from Nuneaton, Warwickshire

Churcher died December 11, 2008 in Basra, Iraq from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He served with Headquarters 20th Armoured Brigade.


Trooper David Jeffrey Clarke of Staffordshire

Rifleman Daniel Lee Coffey, 21, of Exeter

Coffey died February 27, 2007 in Basra, Iraq as a result of injuries sustained from small arms fire while on patrol.

He served with the 10 Platoon, C Company, Second Battalion The Rifles.


Sergeant Eddie Collins

Collins died September 5, 2007 in Iraq.

He served with the Parachute Regiment.


Gunner Paul M Collins, 21

Collins died May 6, 2006 in Basra City, Iraq when his Lynx helicopter crashed.

He served as an Air Door Gunner with 847 Naval Air Squadron based at the Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton.


Sergeant Paul Connolly, 33, from Crawley in West Sussex

Connolly was found dead from a gunshot wound within the confines of Shaibah Logistic Base December 26, 2004.

He served with the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, attached to 21 Engineer Regiment of the Royal Engineers.


Army Corporal Matthew Cornish, 29, from Yorkshire

Cornish died August 1, 2006 after a mortar attack on a multinational force base in Basra, Iraq.

He served with the 1st Battalion Light Infantry.


Corporal John Cosby, 28, of Exeter

Cosby died on July 16, 2006 as a result of gunshot wounds following an operation by British Forces to apprehend a key terrorist leader and accomplice in a suburb of North Basra.

He served with the 1st Battalion the Devonshire and Dorset Light Infantry (1DDLI).


Wing Commander John Coxen, born in 1959, originally from Liverpool

Coxen died May 6, 2006 in Basra City, Iraq when his Lynx helicopter crashed.

He served with the Royal Air Force.


Corporal Andrew Jason Craw, 21, from Clackmannanshire

Died following a tragic incident on a training range near Basrah on 7 January 2004.

Corporal Craw was a member of the 1st Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.


Staff Sgt. Simon Cullingworth of Essex

Killed in combat.


Signaller Paul William Didsbury, 18, of Blackpool

Didsbury died June 29, 2005 from a tragic accident.

He was a soldier with the 21st Signal Regiment (Air Support)and was serving on a roulement tour with the Joint Helicopter Force (Iraq).


Private Eleanor Dlugosz, aged 19, from Catterick

Dlugosz died April 5, 2007 following a roadside bomb attack west of Basra City, Iraq.

She was a member of the Royal Army Medical Corps.


Captain David Ian Dobson, 27

Dobson died May 6, 2006 in Basra City, Iraq when his Lynx helicopter crashed.

He was serving as a pilot with 847 Naval Air Squadron, based at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton.


Private Mark Stephen Dobson, 41, from County Durham

Dobson was found dead in his accommodation at Basrah Air Station, March 28, 2005.

He served with B (Green Howards) Company, The Tyne-Tees Regiment.


Rifleman Paul Donnachie, 18, from Reading in Berkshire

Donnachie was killed April 29, 2007 in the Al Ashar district of Basra City, Iraq by small arms fire while on routine patrol.

He served with the 2nd Battalion the Rifles.


Lance Corporal Allan Douglas, 22, from Aberdeen, Scotland

Douglas was shot and mortally wounded while on a routine patrol in Al Amarah, Iraq on 30 January 2006.

He was assigned to Delta Company, 1st Battalion The Highlanders as part of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Battle Group.


Aircraftsman Christopher Dunsmore, 29, from Leicester

Dunsmore died July 19, 2007 from a rocket attack in Basrah, Iraq.

He was a member of 504 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment.


Second Lieutenant Joanna Yorke Dyer, 24, from Yeovil

Dyer died April 5, 2007 following a roadside bomb attack west of Basra City, Iraq.

She was attached to the 2nd Battalion the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.


Corporal Steve "Eddy" Edwards, 35, of Sutton Coldfield

Edwards died July 31, 2007 in Basra City, Iraq when his Warrior Armored Vehicle was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device.

He served with the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment.


Staff Sergeant Sharron Elliott, 34, of South Shields

Elliott died on November 12, 2006 in an attack on a Multi-National Forces boat patrol on the Shatt Al-Arab waterway.

She served with the Intelligence Corps.


Private Lee Ellis, 23, of Wythenshawe, Manchester

Ellis died in in Almarah, Iraq on February 28, 2006 when a road side bomb exploded while on a routine patrol.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, and was attached to the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.


Lance Corporal Llywelyn Evans

CH-46 US Sea Knight helicopter crashed killing all on board.


Lance Corporal Paul Farrelly, 27, of Rhyl

Farrelly was killed in an attack by an improvised explosive device in Basra on May 28, 2006.

He served with The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (The Welsh Cavalry).


Guardsman Stephen Ferguson, 31, of Lanarkshire

Ferguson, died at Selly Oak Hospital in the UK December 13, 2007 from a non-battle incident in Basra, Iraq on December 12, 2007.

He Served with the 1st Battalion Scots Guards.


Trooper Lee Fitzsimmons 26, from Peterborough

Fitzsimmons died November 20, 2007 when the RAF Puma helicopter he was traveling in crashed.

He served with the Special Air Service (SAS) regiment.


Lance Corporal Timothy Darren ‘Daz’ Flowers, 25, of Northern Ireland

Flowers died July 21, 2007 as a result of an indirect fire attack in Basra City, Iraq.

He was a member of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and attached to the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment.


Lance Corporal Ryan “Franky” Francis, 23 from Llanelli

Francis was killed July 7, 2007 when an Improvised Explosive Device detonated against a Warrior patrol in the Tuninah district in the north of Basra, Iraq.

He served with the 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh.


Private Marc Ferns, 21, of Glenrothes in Fife

Ferns was killed in an improvised explosive device attack in Basrah on August 12, 2004.

He was serving with the 1st Battalion The Black Watch, based at Warminster.


Fusilier Gordon Campbell Gentle, 19

Killed in an improvised explosive device attack on British military vehicles in Basrah on June 28, 2004.

Fusilier Gentle served with the 1st Battalion Royal Highland Fusiliers.


Flight Sergeant Mark Gibson, Royal Air Force

Gibson was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. An Air Load Master, aged 34 and married, he served with 47 Squadron based at RAF Lyneham.


Flight Lieutenant Kristian Michel Alexander Gover, 30

Killed in a helicopter accident at Basrah International Airport on July 19, 2004.

Gover is a Puma helicopter pilot serving with 33 Squadron, based at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire.


Sergeant Stuart Robert Tennant Gray, 31, from Dunfermline, Fife

Gray was killed by a suicide car-bomb attack on a vehicle check-point in Iraq on November 4, 2004.

Served with the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch.


Kingsman Alexander William Green, 21, of Warrington

Green died January 13, 2007 in Basra City, Iraq, as a result of injuries sustained by small arms fire.

He was a member of the 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.

CH-46 US Sea Knight helicopter crashed killing all on board.


Sergeant Simon Alexander Hamilton-Jewell, 41, from Chessington in Surrey

Killed in action in southern Iraq on June 24, 2003.


Kingsman Jamie Hancock, 19, of Wigan, Lancashire

Hancock died November 6, 2006, in Basra Iraq, as a result of injuries sustained when he came under small arms fire while on sentry duty.

He was a member of The 2nd Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.


Major Paul Harding, 48, of Winchester

Harding died June 20, 2007 as a result of an indirect fire attack on the Provincial Joint Coordination Centre in Basra City, Iraq.

He served with the 4th Battalion The Rifles.


Defense Fire Service, Leonard Harvey, a civilian fire-fighter

Died in a hospital in the UK on 22 May 2003, having been taken ill while deployed in the Gulf.

Army Sergeant Graham Hesketh, 35, of Everton

Hesketh died December 28, 2006 as a result of injuries sustained from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) placed at a roadside in Basra City, Southern Iraq.

He was a member of the 2nd Battalion, The Duke of Lancasters Regiment.


Private Phillip Hewett, 21, of Tamworth

Hewett died from injuries sustained in hostile action on July 16, 2005, in Maysan province, Iraq.

He was assigned to C Company, The 1st Battalion Staffordshire Regiment.


Sgt. Chris Hickey of the United Kingdom

Hickey died as a result of injuries sustained from a roadside bomb in Basra, Iraq, on October 18, 2005.

He was a member of the 1st Battalion the Coldstream Guards.


Army Sgt. Jonathan Hollingsworth of the United Kingdom

Hollingsworth died November 24, 2006 in Basra City, Iraq, from gunshot wounds sustained during a planned search and detention operation.

He was a member of the Parachute Regiment, on secondment to Headquarters Multinational Division South East, Iraq.


Captain Richard Holmes, 28, of Winchester, Hampshire

Holmes died in in Almarah, Iraq on February 28, 2006 when a road side bomb exploded while on a routine patrol.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, and was attached to the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.


Lance Corporal Sarah Holmes, 26, of Wantage, Oxfordshire

Holmes died in the UK on October 14, 2007 from injuries that she sustained in a road traffic accident in Al Udeid, Qatar, on October 3, 2007.

She was from 29 Postal Courier and Movement Regiment and was serving on Operation TELIC attached to 3 Logistic Support Regiment.


Warrant Officer Class 2 Lee Hopkins, 35, of Wellingborough

Hopkins died on November 12, 2006 in an attack on a Multi-National Forces boat patrol on the Shatt Al-Arab waterway.

He served with the Royal Corps of Signals.


Lance Corporal of Horse Matty Hull, 25, of Windsor

Hull was reported killed in combat in southern Iraq. His death is being investigated possibly as result of friendly fire.


Lance-Corporal Benjamin John McGowan Hyde, 23, from Northallerton in Yorkshire

Killed in action in southern Iraq on June 24, 2003.


Marine Jason Hylton, 33, of Burton on Trent

Hylton died on November 12, 2006 in an attack on a Multi-National Forces boat patrol on the Shatt Al-Arab waterway.

He served with the 539 Assault Squadron Royal Marines.


Corporal Richard Thomas David Ivell, 29, from near Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Killed in a vehicle accident at Shaibah Logistics Base in southern Iraq on 12 February 2004.

A vehicle mechanic from the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, he was serving with 2 Close Support Regiment of the Royal Logistic Corps.


Kingsman Alan Joseph Jones, 20, of Liverpool

Jones died April 23, 2007 when his Platoon came under small-arms fire in the Al Ashar District of Central Basra City, Iraq.

He served with the 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.


Captain David Martyn Jones, 29, from Louth in Lincolnshire

Killed on 14 August in a bomb attack on a military ambulance in Basrah.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, The Queen's Lancashire Regiment.

Sergeant John Jones, 31, of castle Bromwich, Birmingham

Jones died November 20, 2005 in Basra, Iraq as a result of injuries sustained from a roadside bomb.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.


Acting Lance Corporal Steven Jones

Jones was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. Aged 25 and single, he served with the Royal Signals and came from Fareham.


Fusilier Stephen Jones, 22, from Denbeigh

Jones died in a road traffic accident south of Al Amarah on Sept. 10, 2004.

Jones was serving with A Company of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Welch Fusiliers.


Corporal Paul Joszko, 28, from Mountain Ash, Wales

Joszko died June 28, 2007 in Basra City, Iraq from an improvised explosive device attack while on dismounted patrol.

He served with 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh (The Royal Regiment of Wales).


Private Andrew Joseph Kelly of Tavistock

A soldier from 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, died in an accident in Iraq on 6 May, 2003.


Private Scott Kennedy, 20, from Oakley, Dunfermline

Kennedy died June 28, 2007 in Basra City, Iraq from an improvised explosive device attack while on dismounted patrol.

He served with The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.


Private James Kerr, 20, from Cowdenbeath

Kerr died June 28, 2007 in Basra City, Iraq from an improvised explosive device attack while on dismounted patrol.

He served with The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.


Lance-Corporal Thomas Richard Keys, 20, from Llanuwchllyn, near Bala in Wales

Killed in action in southern Iraq on June 24, 2003.


Lieutenant Tony King, 35 of Helston, Cornwall

Killed when two Sea King helicopters collided over the Persian Gulf.


Gunner David Lawrence, 25, of Wallsall

Lawrence was killed in an ambush of British military vehicles on the outskirts of Basrah on Sept. 28, 2004.

Lawrence was serving with 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery.

Corporal Ben “Bill” Leaning, 24, from Scunthorpe

Leaning died April 19, 2007 in Maysan Provice, Iraq when his armored Reconnaissance vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.

He served with The Queen’s Royal Lancers Battle Group.


Private Joseva Lewaicei, 24, of Lautoka, Fiji

Lewaicei died during routine patrol as a result of injuries sustained from a roadside bomb in Basra City, Southern Iraq, on May 13, 2006.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion of The Royal Anglian Regiment known as the Poachers.


Rifleman Aaron Lincoln, 18, of Durham

Lincoln died April 2, 2007 in Basra City, Iraq of injuries sustained during patrol.

He was a member of the 2nd Battalion, The Rifles.


Captain James Linton, 43, he was married with three children and served with 40 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery

Collapsed and died on 18 July, 2003, following a training run at a British base in Az Zubayr.


Corporal Paul Graham Long, 24, from Colchester in Essex

Killed in action in southern Iraq on June 24, 2003.


Private Paul Aitken Lowe, 19, from Fife

Lowe was killed by a suicide car-bomb attack on a vehicle check-point in Iraq on November 4, 2004.

Served with the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch.

RAF Tornado shot down by 'friendly fire' over Kuwait.


Lance Cpl. Ian Malone, Dublin, Ireland

Killed in combat.


Fusilier Stephen Robert Manning, 22, of Erith in Kent

Manning died September 5, 2005 as a result of wounds sustained during a patrol near Az Zubayr, Basrah province, Iraq.

The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers is currently serving alongside the Coldstream Guards in Basrah Province, Southern Iraq.


Squadron Leader Patrick Brian Marshall, Royal Air Force

Marshall was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. Aged 39 and divorced, he was a staff officer serving with Headquarters Strike Command, High Wycombe.


Captain Ken Masters, 40, from the United Kingdom

Masters was discovered in his accommodation in Waterloo Lines, Basra, Iraq on October 15, 2005

He had served with the Royal Military Police since 1981 and was commissioned from the ranks in 2001 and served most of his career with the Special Investigation Branch.


Private Scott William McArdle, 22, from Glenrothes

McArdle was killed by a suicide car-bomb attack on a vehicle check-point in Iraq on November 4, 2004.

Served with the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch.


Lance Cpl. James McCue, 27, from Paisley

McCue died April 30, 2003 following an explosion in southern Iraq.


Senior Aircraftsman Peter McFerran, 24, from Connahs Quay in Flintshire

McFerran died July 19, 2007 from a rocket attack in Basrah, Iraq.

He was a member of Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment, B Flight.


Private Kevin Thomas McHale, 27, from Lochgelly in Fife

McHale died in a road traffic accident in North Babil province on October 29, 2004.

McHale served 5 years with the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch, as a Warrior armored vehicle driver.


Sergeant Mark J McLaren, 27, from Ashington, Northumberland

McLaren died April 15, 2007 when two Puma helicopter crashed in Iraq.

He served with the Royal Air Force (RAF).


Fusilier Donal Anthony Meade, 20, of Plumstead in South East London

Meade died September 5, 2005 as a result of wounds sustained during a patrol near Az Zubayr, Basrah province, Iraq.

The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers is currently serving alongside the Coldstream Guards in Basrah Province, Southern Iraq.


Lieutenant Tom Mildinhall, 26, of Battersea, south London

Mildinhall was killed in an attack by an improvised explosive device in Basra on May 28, 2006.

He was serving with The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (The Welsh Cavalry).


Corporal Simon Miller, 21, from Tyne and Wear

Killed in action in southern Iraq on June 24, 2003.


Private Adam P. Morris, 19, of Leicester

Morris died during routine patrol as a result of injuries sustained from a roadside bomb in Basra City, Southern Iraq, on May 13, 2006.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion of The Royal Anglian Regiment known as the Poachers.


Staff Sgt. Chris Muir, Romsey, England

Killed while disposing of explosive ordnance.


Flight Lieutenant Sarah-Jayne Mulvihill, 32

Mulvihill died May 6, 2006 in Basra City, Iraq when her Lynx helicopter crashed.

She served as a Flight Operations Officer at Royal Air Force Benson.

Nicholson was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. Aged 42 and divorced, he was an Air Engineer serving with 47 Squadron at RAF Lyneham.


Sergeant John Nightingale, aged 32, from Leeds

Died on 23 September, 2003, whilst serving at Shaibah near Basrah. The tragic incident, involving a firearm, was not the result of enemy action and the circumstances are being fully investigated by the Royal Military Police.

Territorial Army soldier with 217 Transport Squadron, part of 150 Regiment (Volunteers) of the Royal Logistic Corps. He was serving in Iraq with 27 Regiment RLC, at Shaibah Logistic Base.


Corporal Ben Nowak, 27, of Liverpool

Nowak died on November 12, 2006 in an attack on a Multi-National Forces boat patrol on the Shatt Al-Arab waterway.

He served with the 45 Commando Royal Marines.


Private Lee Martin O’Callaghan, 20, from London

O’Callaghan was killed during an attack by insurgents in Basrah on Aug. 9, 2004.

He served with the 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment based at Tidworth.


Sergeant Robert Michael O'Connor, Royal Air Force

O'Connor was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. Aged 38 and single, he was an Engineering Technician serving with the Engineering Wing at RAF Lyneham, the home-base for all RAF Hercules.


Corporal Kris O’Neill aged 27, from Catterick

O’Neill died April 5, 2007 following a roadside bomb attack west of Basra City, Iraq.

He was a member of the Royal Army Medical Corps.


Lt Richard Palmer, 27, of Ware, Hertfordshire, England

Palmer died from injuries sustained in a roadside bomb attack on April 16, 2006 in the vincinity of Ad Dayr, Iraq.

He was assigned to D Squadron, The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.


Flight Lieutenant Paul Martin Pardoel, Royal Air Force

Pardoel was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. An Australian, aged 35 and married, he was a navigator with 47 Squadron at RAF Lyneham.


Sergeant Norman Patterson, 28, from Staffordshire

Died in a road traffic accident on Jan. 1, 2004, in Baghdad.

Sergeant Patterson was a member of the Cheshire Regiment.


Corporal Ian Plank, 31, from Poole

Killed by hostile fire during a Coalition operation in Iraq late on 31 October 2003.


Colour Sergeant Mark Lawrence Powell, 37, from South Wales

Powell died April 15, 2007 when two Puma helicopter crashed in Iraq.

He served with the Parachute Regiment.


Corporal Dewi Pritchard, 35, from Bridgend

Killed during an attack by gunmen on a British Army vehicle in Basrah on 23 August 2003.

Territorial Army soldier serving with 116 Provost Company, Royal Military Police.


Gunner Duncan Geoffrey Pritchard, Royal Air Force.

Died on 8 May 2003 in a UK hospital from injuries sustained in a traffic accident while on duty in Iraq. Aged 22, he was serving with 16 Squadron of the RAF Regiment, home-based at RAF Honington in Suffolk.


Corporal Gordon Alexander Pritchard, 31, from Edinburgh, Scotland

Pritchard died from injuries sustained as a result of an explosion on January 31, 2006, in Um Qasr, Iraq. He was commanding the lead Snatch Landrover in a three-vehicle convoy when the incident occurred.

He was a member of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.


Private Christopher Gordon Rayment, 22, from London

Rayment died in a tragic accident at Al Amarah on August 4, 2004.

He was serving with the 1st Battalion of The Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment.


Corporal Christopher Read, 22 and originally from Poole in Dorset

Read died July 7, 2007 as a result of injuries he sustained during a large scale operation in Bara City, Iraq.

He Served with 158 Provost Company, 3rd Regiment Royal Military Police.


Lance Corporal Kirk Redpath, 22, from Romford

Redpath died August 9, 2007 in southern Iraq when his Snatch Armored Land Rover was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device.

He served with the 1st Battalion, Irish Guards.


Sergeant Wayne Rees, 36, of Nottingham

Rees died Sunday January 7, 2007 as a result of injuries sustained from a road traffic accident while on operations in Maysan Province, Iraq.

He served with The Queen's Royal Lancers.


Corporal John Rigby, 24, of Rye

Rigby died June 22, 2007 from injuries sustained by a roadside bomb attack in Basra City, Iraq.

He served with the 4th Battalion The Rifles.


Sergeant Steven Mark Roberts of Bradford, West Yorkshire

Killed in combat near Al Zubayr, Iraq.


Staff Sergeant Denise Michelle Rose, 34 from Liverpool

Rose was found dead from a gunshot wound at the Army base in the Shatt-al-Arab Hotel, Basrah, on October 31, 2004.

Served with the Royal Military Police's, Special Investigation Branch.

Killed in helicopter crash.


Lance Cpl. Karl Shearer

Killed in accident involving light armored vehicle.


Second Lieutenant Richard Shearer, 26, of Nuneaton

Shearer died from injuries sustained in hostile action on July 16, 2005, in Maysan province, Iraq.

He was assigned to C Company, The 1st Battalion Staffordshire Regiment.


Corporal David John Shepherd, 34, of the Royal Air Force Police

Died on 19 May 2003 in Kuwait. His death is believed to have been from natural causes.


Private Luke Daniel Simpson, 21, of Howden

Simpson died on February 9, 2007 in Southern Iraq as a result of injuries sustained when the vehicle he was driving was hit by a roadside bomb.

He served with the 1st Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment.


Kingsman Adam James Smith, 19, from the Isle of Man

Smith died April 5, 2007 following a roadside bomb attack west of Basra City, Iraq.

He was a member of the 2nd Battalion the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.


Flight Lieutenant Andrew Paul Smith, Royal Air Force

Smith was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. A pilot serving with 47 Squadron, based at RAF Lyneham, he was a single man aged 25.


Trooper Carl Smith, 23

Smith died February 2, 2006 as a result of a vehicle accident while on operations in Abu Al Khasib, south of Basra, Iraq.

He served with the 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's).


Private Jason Smith, 32, from Hawick

Died in southern Iraq on 13 August, 2003. The cause of his death is the subject of an investigation but was not the result of enemy action.

Served with the Territorial Army since 1992. A soldier in the 52nd Lowland Regiment, he was serving in Iraq attached to the 1st Battalion, The King's Own Scottish Borderers.


Private Leon Spicer, 26, of Tamworth

Spicer died from injuries sustained in hostile action on July 16, 2005, in Maysan province, Iraq.

He was assigned to C Company, The 1st Battalion Staffordshire Regiment.


Sergeant Mark Stansfield, 32, of Oxfordshire

Stansfield died September 21, 2007 in the UK, from injuries sustained in Iraq last week.

He served with 32 Close Support Squadron, UK Logistic Battalion, based in the Contingency Operating Base at Basra Air Station.


Flight Lieutenant David Kevin Stead, Royal Air Force

Stead was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. Aged 35 and married, he was a pilot serving with 47 Squadron based at RAF Lyneham.


Major James Stenner, 30, of Monmouthshire

Died in a road traffic accident on Jan. 1, 2004, in Baghdad.

Major Stenner was a member of the Welsh Guards.

Lieutenant Tom Tanswell, 27, of London

Tanswell died as a result of injuries sustained in a road traffic accident near Shaibah Logistics Base, southwest of Basra City, Iraq, on October 27, 2006.

He served with the 58 (Eyre's) Battery, 12th Regiment Royal Artillery.


Corporal Marc Taylor, 27 from Ellesmere Port

Taylor was killed Sept. 28, 2004 in an ambush of British military vehicles on the outskirts of Basrah.

Taylor served with the Corps of Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, attached to 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery.


Private Michael Tench, 18, of Sunderland

Tench died January 21, 2007 in Basrah City, Iraq, as a result of injuries sustained from an Improvised Explosive Device placed at a roadside.

Tench served with A Company, 2nd Battalion The Light Infantry.


Lance Corporal Paul David Trevor Thomas, 29, from Welshpool

Lance Corporal Thomas was killed in action in Basrah, Iraq on August 17, 2004.

Thomas was a member of the 2nd Battalion The Light Infantry, he was serving in southern Iraq attached to the 1st Battalion The Cheshire Regiment.


Private Ryan Lloyd Thomas, 18, of Resolven, near Neath in Glamorgan

Thomas died in a road traffic accident while on duty in Basrah, Iraq on November 6, 2003.

He served with the 1st Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Wales.


Private Kevin Thompson, 21, of Lancaster

Thompson died May 6, 2007 in the UK from injuries he sustained on May 3, 2007 in Iraq, when his vehichle was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

He served with 19 Combat Service Support Battalion, based in the Contingency Operating Base at Basra Air Station.


Sapper Robert Thomson, 22, from West Lothian

Killed in a tragic accident in Basrah on January 31, 2004.

Thomson was serving with 35 Engineer Regiment, normally based in Paderborn, Germany.


Gunner Lee “Thorny” D. Thornton, 24, of Blackpool

Thornton died on September 7, 2006 as a result of injuries sustained two days earlier from a single gunshot wound whilst on patrol in the town of Al Qurna, north of Basra, Iraq.

He served with the 58 (Eyre's) Battery, 12th Regiment Royal Artillery.


Major Matthew Titchener, 32, from Southport, Merseyside

Killed during an attack by gunmen on a British Army vehicle in Basrah on 23 August 2003.

150 Provost Company, Royal Military Police.


Private Pita Tukutukuwaqa, 27, from Fiji

Tukutukuwaqa died on November 8, 2004 when his Warrior armoured vehicle was hit by a roadside improvised explosive device

Tukutukuwaqa served with the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch.

Killed in combat.


Trooper Kristen Turton, 27, from Grimsby

Turton died April 19, 2007 in Maysan Provice, Iraq when his armored Reconnaissance vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.

He served with The Queen’s Royal Lancers Battle Group.


Lieutenant Alexander Tweedie, 25, had served for two and a half years in D Squadron, The Blues & Royals, Household Cavalry Regiment.

Died April 22, 2003, of the injuries he received when his Scimitar armoured vehicle overturned in Iraq on April 1.


Rifleman Edward “Vaka” Vakabua, 23, from Nailuva Road in Suva, Fiji

Vakabua died July 6, 2007 at the Bara Palace base in Basra City, Iraq.

He served in the Mortar Platoon attached to 7 Platoon, B Company, 4th Battalion The Rifles.


Gunner Samuela Vanua, 27, of Fiji

Vanua died September 4, 2006 as a result of injuries sustained from a roadside bomb near the town of Ad Dayr, Iraq.

He was attached to 58 (Eyre’s) Battery, part of 12 Regiment Royal Artillery, from 3/29 Battery, 4th Regiment Royal Artillery.


Guardsman Anthony John Wakefield, 24, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Wakefield died May 2, 2005 of wounds he sustained during a routine patrol in Al Amarah, Iraq.

His Company of the 1st Battalion The Coldstream Guards is currently serving alongside 1 Staffords (Staffordshire Regt.) in Maysan Province, Iraq.


Warrant Officer Colin Wall, 34, from Crawleyside, County Durham.

Killed during an attack by gunmen on a British Army vehicle in Basrah on 23 August 2003.

He served with the 150 Provost Company, Royal Military Police.

Williams was killed following the loss of an RAF C-130K Hercules aircraft over Iraq on 30 January 2005. Aged 37 and married, he was a Survival Equipment Fitter serving with the Engineering Wing at RAF Lyneham, the home-base for all RAF Hercules.

Wilson died December 4, 2008 in Basra, Iraq from a gunshot wound.

He was serving with the 9th Regiment Army Air Corps.


Corporal Rodney "Will" Wilson, 20, from England

Wilson died June 7, 2007 in the Al Atiyah district, north west of Basra City , Iraq when his patrol came under attack from small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades.

He served as a Section Commander in 4th Battalion The Rifles.


Private Ryan Wrathall, 21, from Surbiton, Surrey

Wrathall died February 12, 2009 in Basra, Iraq from a gunshot wound.

He was serving with 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment as part of 5th Battalion The Rifles (5 RIFLES) (Strike) Battle Group.

Wright died September 4, 2006 from injuries sustained from a roadside bomb near the town of Ad Dayr, Iraq.

Private Johnathon Dany Wysoczan, 21, of the UK

Wysoczan died March 4, 2007 as a result of injuries he had sustained during a patrol in South Basra, Iraq.

He served with the 4 Platoon, B Company, First Battalion The Staffordshire Regiment.
