Lucky Leprechauns

Leprechauns are little fairies taking the appearance of a minature old man, about two feet tall, dressed in a green suit and top hat. The name leprechaun is derived from the old Irish word luchorpan which means "little body".

According to legend, leprechauns are reserved and unfriendly, spending most of their time making shoes. They also possess a hidden pot of gold! Treasure hunters track down the lepechauns by following the sound of their hammers. Once captured, he can be forced to reveal the whereabouts of his gold treasure.

Coins

Near a misty stream in Ireland in the hollow of a tree
Live mystical, magical leprechauns who are clever as can be
With their pointed ears, and turned up toes and little coats of green
The leprechauns busily make their shoes and try hard not to be seen.
Only those who really believe have seen these little elves
And if we are all believers we can surely see for ourselves.

Bits O' History

The Republic of Ireland's flag is made of three equal-sized rectangles of orange, white, and green (this type of flag is called a tri-color). The flag is twice as wide as it is tall. The green side is by the flagpole.

The flag was first adopted as the national flag of the Irish Free State in 1922. When the Free State was succeeded by the state now known as the Republic of Ireland, under the 1937 Constitution of Ireland, the tricolour was given constitutional status.

The tricolour is regarded by many nationalists as the national flag of the whole of Ireland. Thus it is flown (often controversially) by many nationalists in Northern Ireland as well as by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Historically Ireland has been represented by a number of other flags, including St. Patrick's cross, and the "four provinces" flag. Read more...

May you never find trouble
All crowdin' and shovin'
But always good fortune...
All smilin' and lovin'.

Lep

May the saint protect ye
An' sorrow neglect ye,
An' bad luck to the one
That doesn't respect ye

T' all that belong to ye,
A long life t' yer honor...
That's the end of my song t' ye!
