Born on July 31st, 1939 (I can't possibly be that old!) in Atlanta, Georgia.
Southern Gent by birth, so to speak.

I did a lot of sight seeing in the Marine Corps,
1956
spent a lot of time in the South Pacific, the Far East and "the Nam".
Wounded, I spent six months on my back, deprived of even seeing a bird in the sky, or a tree or stream on the ground. This brought on a great love of Nature and the wonderful gifts we have been given so abundantly by the Master Artist.
I learned to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding us from all directions. Most of the time, it's just a matter of stopping and looking a little closer to be able to see things in a totally different light.
I was married for thirty years and raised six children, three boys and three girls, several dogs and an assortment of other critters. The kids are all grown and gone now, and my wife passed away several years ago.
I am now disabled with a bad ticker, (still kickin', just not quite as high) and live happily alone at the foothills of the Smokey Mountains,
still enjoying nature as often as possible. One of our local sites here in Toccoa, Ga.,
is the Toccoa Falls, 19 feet higher than Niagara. I visit here very often and enjoy just sitting and watching it, listening to the music it makes... really a very pretty and peaceful place.
Most of my time now is spent on the internet, trying to find even more things, places and animals of beauty to add to my collection, which is shared with all who care to see.
Sometimes it's easy to find fault with the world and to see the bad things in it. But, the next time you find yourself complaining and finding fault, take a moment to step outside and look at how many beautiful and wonderous things you can find in just 5 minutes.
Enough about me now.... hope you'll see some more slideshows, and if you like them, pass them on to your friends. We can all use a little break from the world of the six o'clock news, and I am trying to make this a great place to do just that. Hope you'll visit again soon and I'll sure try to have something new and enjoyable waiting on you. |
