There were two former Marines and one former soldier that went to Washington, DC for the 20th anniversary of The Wall. Myself and another former Marine had gone to boot camp a few years ago in 1964 and hadn't seen each other since then. We found each other at the Marine Corps guestbook site about 31 months ago (as of July 2003) and have communicated since then. The other Vietnam veteran and I have known each other for 14 years and was my former boss. I'm still breaking him in. RW and I had visited The Wall about 11 years ago. So we have a 60 year old kid (me), 894 days in-country give or take, a 58 year old former two tour grunt (BP) and bringing up the rear is RW (former boss) just a youngster at 51 and still growing in height all excited about our journey and the unknown feelings that will surface. We started our journey with BP flying in to Indianapolis from Big D (Dallas) on 11-6-02 visiting with a few former school friends. BP and I left on 11-08-02 to meet RW at exit 186 on I-70 and continued in his red Durango to DC arriving at approximately 2130 on 11-08-02 but with a small stop in Wheeling, WV to play a few one armed bandits and a beer break. We stayed at The Virgina Suites in Arlington, VA about four blocks from the Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima War Memorial) for three nights for the grand sum of $99.00 a night for the three of us in a very spacious suite prior to going to Gettysburg, PA and touring the hollowed battleground in the rain the day after Veterans Day. The next picture will show me on the left at 5' 10" and Randy Weekly (RW) that Army dude and Bill Priest (BP) USMC that tall drink of water.
