First, I want to thank Dojean for coming up with this method of framing. I give her full credit.. I have changed a few things on my tutorial instructions, but the method is basicly the same. So lets get to framing some wonderful images!

Find an image you like, I choose this one.

purplelady.jpg

I took the URL of the image above to The Color Grabber and used this tool to find the different colors in the image that I wanted to use for my borders and frame.

Now take the URL of your image to Image Magick and frame it the way you like. I will expand on this part of my tutorial, for those who don't know how to frame an image. Once I had it framed, I then resize it and here are the results ( I made it 200x250).

Transload the image to your directory.

Go to your directory and get the URL of your framed image and take it back to Image Magick and resize it to 25%. Most people use width and height when resizing an image, but you can also put in a percentage. Here are the results.

Transload the image to your directory.

Go to your directory and get the URL for your small image, like the one above. C/C&P this URL into your find box. Now you need a background, I choose this black blank

Take the URL of your background to Image Magick and resize it. In order for my finished image to have a complete border around it, I had to multiply the height and width of the small image by 6. My small image was width 50 and height 63. So I needed to resize my background to width 300 and height 378. For your own image just multiply your height and width by 6. Resize your background. Take that background and go into composite. Erase the http:// from the "URL" box and pull up your find key and C/C&P the URL of your small image into that box. Choose "Atop" on the drop down menu under "Compose" and check the box on the bottom of the page where is says "tile across and down the image canvas". Now hit composite. You should come up with something like this

New Background

Transload your new background to your directory.

Almost finished now :-). Find your large framed image and C/C&P that URL into your find box. Now you need to go get your "new background" and take it to Image Magick. Go into composite and erase the "http://" from the URL box and CC&P in the URL of your framed image that you have stored in your find box. Make sure that the "Compose" drop down menu is on "over". Hit composite. You can put another frame around it, like I did and then resize to suit your taste. Here it the final results.

I will be updating this tutorial, I just put it together quickly. I hope you enjoy framing your images this way and have fun.
