Where Did Easter Go?

I was thinking about Easter and it's
true meaning, and then began to
contemplate on how very far away
from this we've come...this saddened me.

The most beautiful day in all of history
is being celebrated with eggs and
bunnies...even by many christians!
If you or I were to ask many children,
and even adults, what the true meaning
of Easter is I think we'd find they don't
have a clue.

When children think of Easter they
think of bunnies hopping by in the
night to leave them candy and to hide
eggs under the sofa. They might think
of the new clothes mommy bought for
them to show off in, and they think of
perhaps a ham dinner.

When adults think of Easter their
minds focus on bringing all this bunny
hopping, egg hunting fantasy alive for
their children. Some go to church, too
many don't, and few consider what
Jesus did for us!!

This most beautiful day should be
celebrated through praise and
thanksgiving for the love that was
poured out for us. God gave us His
only Son to die on Calvary so that we
might have life (John 3:16). He didn't
come to condemn the world, but to
save it (John 3:17). He was beaten,
ridiculed, abused in every hideous
way, then, as a last "slap" He was
given vinegar to drink when He was
thirsty (John 19).

With His dying breath He uttered one
of my favorite verses in Luke 23:34
"Father, forgive them; for they know
not what they do." and His body died.

Hebrews 10:12 tells us that through
His death Jesus offered one sacrifice
for our sins forever. (Matthew 18) tells
us that on the 3rd day He rose again
from the dead. He showed the world
that death has no victory over Him and
through Him it has no victory over us:

1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where [is]
thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory?

Because of the sin of Adam and Eve,
we were once doomed, but because
of the pure love of God we now have
the possibility of life, if we just accept.

1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam
all die, even so in Christ shall all be
made alive.

He did all this for us...He gave Himself
as a one time gift for our Salvation...so
we can live in heaven with God forever:

Luke 24:46 Thus it is written, and
thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and
to rise from the dead the third day:

Luke 24:47 Repentance and remission
of sins should be preached in His
(Jesus) name.

Adam brought death. Jesus brought
the promise of life everlasting. And
yet, in spite of all His love for us, we
still go on our merry way and "spit" in
His face...just like they did at Calvary.

If you don't think this is true then
please think about it: How did all
this; the awesome sacrifice of our
Precious Lord and Savior Jesus, the
resurrection, the love that He poured
out to us through His precious blood.

How did all this get turned into an
easter bunny and an egg hunt?

Never mind. I already know
the answer to that.
