God Is Love

What's happened to churches today
When did they turn from the truth
How did they make the decision
That money and clothing rule

How do they rectify with God
Why a person poorly dressed
Can't have a seat in their midst
Or the church won't be blessed

How do they rectify with God
That their souls are black with hate
They have no respect for the pastor
And to the poor they close the gate

There's no room for the Holy Spirit
They want to do it themselves
They program the service
Without first asking God for help

They hurt those who God loves
They step on anyone's toes
Who might find Salvation
If the people just kept them close

Close to the heart of God
Close to His spirit and truth
Close to the church...HIS house
For what they do there's no excuse

With His last breath Jesus said
"Forgive them Father,
They know not what they do"
Did He mean the Jews who killed Him?
Or did He mean me and you?

We can know the word of God today
It's found in the bible and church
But if the seeker is treated with cruelty
How will they find their rest?

Murder is in the heart
Of those who turn away
From one seeking God's word
We've helped him go astray

And those who don't know Jesus
Won't step through the heavenly gates
If we've turned away a seeker
Our hearts are filled with hate

God is love

The contents of this poem have been
a pet peeve of mine for years...please
try to love the unlovable...they need
to experience your love before they
can begin to realize and accept the
love of God...without the visual...how
can they know to reach out for the
spiritual?...We, God's children, are
God's visual...Amen.
