We move to a new house!
Yippee! We finally moved after two years in a rental house. I have my own front yard with grass and flowers and plants. Best of all two big shade trees! Oh... and it has a brick wall all the way around so I can't escape the yard. I can't see over the wall, but it does have little openings that I can peek through and see people. My big sisters have all the back yard. It has grass (not for long tho) and plants and three big shade trees. Mom and dad had a special dog run built for my big sisters, they have a new brick dog house with a window and a light! This house has two bedrooms and the second bedroom is called my room. I sleep in there during the day when my parents aren't home. I like it in there. (I still sleep in bed with them at night). The next two chapters are sad ones in my life:-(
Losing sister Lady Sister Lady was getting old. Mom had brought her to the doctor for shots to help her walk. She was getting arthritis. Lady always loved to eat and never turned down food unless she was sick. She went to the doctor for one of her shots and that evening she didn't want to eat. Mom was concerned because Lady didn't want her dinner, but then Lady began to eat. The next morning she seemed to be in pain again. It was cold outside and mom thought it was her arthritis acting up. Not even an hour later that morning dad went out and found her dead. Mom called the hospital and told the doctor she was dead. The doctor was shocked! He asked mom if she would mind bringing her in for an autopsy. Mom agreed and brought her in. Her spleen had ruptured, he didn't know why. He also found that she had cancer of the liver. If her spleen hadn't ruptured the liver cancer would have killed her. Or mom and dad would have had to put her down. She was cremated and her ashes were buried along with her favorite toy ( a plastic alligator). I missed her. She liked me from the very begining and was always careful not to step on me. Thank goodness for that because she was 80 lbs and I only weigh 4 lbs.
Losing sister Mandy
Sister Mandy had always been a very healthy dog. She was a few years younger than Lady, and never overweight and very active. She just loved playing Frisbee and with a Tennis ball even as she got older. Mom and dad figured they would have her for at least 5 or more years after Lady passed away. It was summer here and very hot. Mom and dad were going to go swimming at the big lake, called Lake Mead. Mandy loved to swim. I didn't know how so they left me at home. They took Mandy she was 9 years old now. She had fun swimming and playing ball all day and acted like a puppy! The next day mom went to work and when she came home she noticed Mandy was lethargic and her gums were white! She rushed her to emergency. They ran blood tests and found she had Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. This is a very serious condition. They don't know what causes it. Her blood cells were being destroyed, she was in the hospital and was turning yellow. After 4 days in the hospital she passed away. Mom and dad had her cremated too and her ashes were buried with her favorite toy ( a tennis ball). Now I was alone for the first time with no doggie sisters:-(
Getting a brother (Oh Brother!)
Well I wasn't alone for long. Mom and dad missed having a big dog around. Mom started looking for another. She was looking for an adult dog Shep/mix or Dobe/mix. After all, I wasn't much of a watch dog. I didn't even bark (yet), and I was already 5 years old. She found what looked like a Dobe and adopted him, and named him Titan. Ty is his nickname. He reminded me alot of Lady and I liked him. Better yet, he liked me too! Mom found out that he wasn't a Dobe/mix he was a Doberman that never got his ears cropped or tail docked. Everything else was "all" Doberman. He was like Lady in alot of ways destructive was one. Mom knew he was going to need training. Something I never got. She was spending alot of time with him and I was getting a little jealous. But if I was sick, mom was always there for me. So I got sick a little more often, to get more of mom's attention. Shhhh... don't tell. You can see my brother Ty by clicking here.
