I would like to talk a little about living in the mountains, in the desert. Usually one couldn`t find a better, more comfortable climate than what we have here several hundred feet above the desert valley floor, however, these last two seasons have been somewhat of an anomaly in that respect. We have, for instance, experienced two fairly severe floods. Very unusual.

The unspoiled beauty, peace and quiet definitly influenced our decision to settle here, but it`s not for the faint-of-heart. There are hazards (this ain`t city life folks!) which must be considered and dealt with. It (as they say) "Comes with the territory." Below these beautiful photos taken by a local fellow (of our front and back yard), are but a few of the dangers that lurk in these pristine hills. Please use the links to learn more from DesertUSA, they`re cool!!!

GOD`S ARIZONA
PAINTING

Have you ever seen the beauty,
Of the sun a sitting low.
In Southern Arizona,
  Where there's  hardly any snow.

Only God could paint that picture,
Of the beauty in the sky.
And there's  Awesome wonder in my heart
As his artwork makes me sigh.

God has his beauty all around,
  Yet this I soon forget--
In Arizona when the sun goes down
And I see his great sunset

Its worth the ride a thousand miles--
If you don't live out here.
To watch God paint the western sky
At least one day a year.

In 1974 I lived just outside Casa Grande Arizona, in a new housing development called Arizona City. I could look out my kitchen window and see the famous Zane Grey's Table Top Mountain.

In the 5 years I lived there I never missed the beautiful sun set over that Majestic Mountain.

This is the third poem I ever wrote.

You can see Mr. Jensen`s beautiful page with this poem here:
