On the Banks of the Clyde ...
I'm maybe sentimental, I know I'm growing old, but there's many a tale of our town, I feel must be told. Its history of bygone days must fill us all with pride, this dear old town of Renfrew, on the banks of the Clyde.
We'd walk along Inchinnan Road to the five mile track, have a good old song and dance before venturing back. All the lads and lasses full of fun and smiles so wide, coming back to Renfrew, on the banks of the Clyde.
On a bright summers day the family would trail, to the Wharf near the Ferry and go for a sail, to Dunoon or Rothesay or just drift on the tide, but glad to get back to Renfrew, on the banks of the Clyde.
There was plenty of nice walks all around the town, no traffic problems to cast a frown. Just a leisurely stroll, set your own stride, returning to Renfrew, on the banks of the Clyde.
There's many a lad left auld Scotia's shore, to foreign lands and the wish to explore. But over the years they always decide, to return to old Renfrew, on the banks of the Clyde.
For me to relate all, it would take a book, so pop into the Library and take look. The Historical Society has it all on slide, of dear old Renfrew - On the banks of the Clyde.
