Back then ... It was Forfar Bridies, Sausage Rolls, Shortbread and Tablet. Refreshments for the men would be Whisky, women would have Sherry or a Shandy (half beer half ginger ale), and the bairns (children) would get Ginger Beer ... Then at the stroke of midnight we would open all the windows to hear the church bells ring in the New Year ... Today I still call home on Hogmanay.
Yes, even after 45+ years because my heart needs to hear the ringing of the bells! |
