Celtic Bar 64 High Street Celtic Bar

Up High StreetTowards Queen Street"I'm not really sure why I return in thought and dream ... to that big red sandstone tenement building where I was raised during the 1940's and '50's.

Maybe it's because I remember and feel even to this present day, a sense of security ... A sense of being, a special sense of closeness. I remember when I went back for a visit, standing there, where old 64 once stood, standing there ... feeling a genuine sense of loss, and wondering is this just me ...Or do all ex-pats feel this way? ...

Back of 64 High StreetFront - Queen Street... I think we do!

For there is a special place within all of us, and that place is the heart and no matter how far we travel ... No matter where we end up making a life for ourselves, and no matter how happy we are in our life ... When the body enters its Autumn season, the strings of a Celtic heart start tugging at us ...

We start remembering ...
... And the journey back home begins.

Scottish ThistleI'm looking at that bottom window in the back and remembering the Butlers ... There was Arthur, Cissy and their wee doggy Prince. They lived through the wall from us at number 2 Queen Street. Do you remember them? Arthur on this motorbike, Cissy in the side-car wae Prince LOL wearin' old leather helmets and big goggles LOL ridin' up Queen street. Us wains had a rer time watchin' them ... Cissy, my mum and Molly Lardner were best pals. Today ... Yes, today it's very clear to me why we called them closes!
