| Cadgers Brig in Biggars: Legend has it that William Wallace once fought a number of English soldiers near here when they accosted him as he spied on them dressed as a 'Cadger' or Peddler. The waters running through it are on their way to join the River Tweed. The existing bridge only dates back to the 18th century, although I'm sure there was an older bridge before this one. While in this area go visit Gladstone Court Museum, the Moatpark Heritage Centre and the Greenhill Covenanting Museum. |
