| Tinto: A new day dawns as the sun slowly rises, spreading a warm light over the frozen earth towards Tinto, as seen from Kilncadzow, near Carluke. Known locally as 'Tintock Tap', it is reckoned that Tinto's name came from its use centuries ago as a beacon hill and derives possibly from the Gaelic word Teinteach meaning fiery. It is a very popular walk, giving on a clear day a wonderful panoramic view across all of Lanarkshire and well beyond. |
