City Chambers. This imposing building in Glasgow forms the focus of the city's civic life. The first stone was laid in 1883 and the building opened by Queen Victoria in 1888. Its interior is no less impressive, with marble staircases, a mosaic ceiling, and fine murals in the Banqueting Hall.
