I'm thinking it will be in your best interest to select a hotel that puts you in the city-centre and as close as you can get to St. Enoch Square. You will be centrally located, near the Motorway, Post Office, Tourist Information Center, Underground, Bus Station(s), Train Station(s), Shopping and eating, everything within walking distance ~ I don't want you getting lost!

Glasgow Airport [GLA] is eight miles outside Glasgow, about 30 minutes by car from St. Enoch Square, you can catch a taxi, airport bus, or your cheapest bet the Citylink bus that will drop you off at St. Enoch Square.

Okay lets get down to the good stuff!

Now on getting around, if you don't want to drive (on the left side) you have plenty of options, but the first place to visit is the Tourist Information Center. There you will find a wealth of information waiting, and you can book-a-bed-ahead, so make that's your very first stop.

Buchanan Street Bus Station, is the main bus station and just a block north from the information center, they serve trips going North and East and offer day and some overnight excursions. Anderson Cross Bus Station, is located west of St. Enoch Square, serving West and South. The Citylink bus leaves from St. Enoch Square and offers day and half-day tours in and around Glasgow.

The train system is ScotRail and it can take you anywhere you want to go. Queen Street Train Station, is located between Buchanan Street Bus Station and the Tourist Information Center. Central Train Station is located about a block west of St. Enoch Square.

Well now you have it! All the transportation options available to you.

Now . . . I certainly don't want to influence you in any way, I would never do that......Right! ;-) *S* But to have the best of both worlds, stay the first 2 days and the last day of your trip in Glasgow, and spend the time in between doing the B&B scene in Oban.

If you are thinking maybe Glasgow??
Take an Outside Tour.
But dinnae forget tae come back tae me! * grin *
