If I Close My Eyes

If I close my eyes,
If I quietly still my anxious mind,
Let the stream of busy thoughts,
Gradually unwind ...
Allow them space to come and go,
Watch how freely they unfold,
Just observe and do not judge,
Or try to clutch or hold.

I see some are of the future ...
Some are from the past,
But underneath their chatter,
There is a silence deep and vast,

I feel the rhythm of my breath,
The beating of my heart,
I'm now at one with the universe,
Even tho we are apart.

Silently I wait ...
I wait to let the energy flood in,
Here in this moment ...
Images of past and future begin.

I know that could well happen,
So I'll take it day by day,
Life has it's way of sorting things out,
But my dreams are here to stay.

Times ...
They are changing, this I realize,
But I know how to make things happen,

Well I do . . .
