Have you ever wondered how those patterns at Image Magick were designed?
And, have you ever thought of the possibilities of combining those designs with your own creativity to make Gradient Abstracts and 3D Abstracts? Let's find out how.
Upon your arrival at Image Magick, on the very first page, you have the capability of creating your very own graphics.
One of the formats (on the drop-down menu) which you can select to create your own graphics is "PATTERN".
There is a vast selection of Patterns for you to choose from. (To view all 50 patterns and the designs used to create those patterns, click HERE.)
Normally, you would specify a width (pixels) and a height (pixels) and enter that specification into the "SIZE" box.
Let's give it a try. And, let's make it easy. Width 100 pixels Height 100 pixels.
So, in the "SIZE" box enter 100x100
Next, for this example, let's try using this pattern.....crosshatch45.
So, in the "META" box enter crosshatch45
Do not place any parameters into the "SCENE" box. Leave it empty for now.
Then, scroll up the page and click "VIEW" to see the result of this normal procedure.
Result (crosshatch45 Pattern).....
Each of the patterns that you can choose from at Image Magick is made up of one single design.
That one single design is then tiled to create the completed pattern, such as the "result" shown above.
It is possible to Isolate that one single design that was used to make the pattern.
What does the "crosshatch45" design really look like when isolated away from the above pattern?
Let's find out.
On the same first page at Image Magick, select Pattern as your Format, from the drop-down menu.
Do not put any parameters into the "SIZE" box. Leave it empty.
In the "META" box enter crosshatch45
Then, in the "SCENE" box specify a width (pixels) and a height (pixels).
Let's use the same dimensions. Width=100 / Height=100. Enter 100x100 into the "SCENE" box.
Scroll up the page and click "VIEW" to see the result.
Result (crosshatch45 design).....
Now, are you ready to EXTREME that?
How about if we keep the height the same? 100 pixels. But, let's make the width 500 pixels.
On the same first page at Image Magick, select Pattern as your Format, from the drop-down menu.
Do not put any parameters into the "SIZE" box. Leave it empty.
In the "META" box enter crosshatch45
Then, in the "SCENE" box enter 500x100! Note: You must add an exclamation point following the height parameter.
Scroll up the page and click "VIEW" to see the result.
Result (crosshatch45 design EXTREMED).....
Below is a different isolated design taken from the hs_fdiagonal pattern.
It was sized to 600w x 70h.
It was filled in with a dodgerblue color with the fuzz set at 30%.
Notice the shadow effect.
Let's put a frame around it.
Experiment.
You can paint the single design.
You can composite the single design with another graphic or image; or another pattern design.
You can use various height and width dimensions with the single design for even more unique and different looks.
You can isolate a design from a pattern which gives you an "instant DRAW" effect.
Try compositing a gradient effect to the design.
Or, if you choose, the isolated single design can be annotated upon which gives you the opportunity to make unique looking banners and logos.
