"Meeting George Strait"

On Halloween
Dj's Lynn Wagner & Bill Thomas
of 93.3 KKNG
were giving away special treats.
I was the lucky 93rd caller to win
a backstage pass and front row seats.
Chauffeured to the new Ford Center,
We were accompanied by
Mr. & Mrs. Kevin Christopher.
Before the show a headless horseman
lead us pass a security gate
where fortunate winners impatiently wait.
The doors swung open and there stood George Strait.
I said, "Hello, my name is Tammy",
as he reached out to shake my hand first.
It took all I had to not emotionally burst!
although I did manage to somehow introduce...
saying "This is my husband, country music singer Ray Bruce.
They greeted one another as they shook hands
Then Ray asked, How's David Anthony been?
George replied, It didn't look good.
He's had surgery and we are all prayin'.
George spoke as if they were old friends.
I said, We've come baring gifts too.
Ray's written a song called "Quality Time"
He thought it might suit you.
George accepted it with a sincere Thank you,
then handed it off to one of his guys standing near by
He was so genuine and very kind.
Then, I asked him,
"Now can I get an autograph signed?"
George said, Sure, Are you Tammy with a y or ie?
I was thinkin' oh gosh he remembered my name.
I was so tempted to flirt, Oh, what could it hurt,
with my blood rushing hot,
honest to goodness, I whispered "like Tammy Wynette
but tonight I'm Tammy why-not".
as George slowy raised his head his black hat
revealing his sparkling green eyes
he looked straight into mine
he chuckled and actually blushed
as he flashed his handsome grin
...then he said as he wrote with my pen,
To Tammy, Love George Strait.
without any words my expression read
Lord Have Mercy...how lucky can one girl get.
Oh yes, and his performance was beyond great.
We phoned our little 9 year Emily during his show
so she could hear him perform her favorite song
"Check Yes or No."
George Strait sang like it was going out of style
and that night 20,000+ adoring fans
did leave with a smile.

whatta thrilling country music experience!
