Things you will need
White Blank Gifworks Here's a quick and easy way to add to your background stash. You can use plasma backgrounds. Or make up your own color combination by annotating colored text on the background, like this: Example 1 Example 2 Remember to output your image as a gif at Image Magic. At Gifworks, click on FILE dropdown. Choose OPEN IMAGE. Paste the url for your bg in the text box and click FETCH IMAGE. Next page, click EFFECTS dropdown, and choose PIXELATE. I used a navy-magenta plasma bg and this was my results: Example 3 DIdn't like it so much, so I cropped out a center section, resized it and then pixelated it again. Example 4 You can make a little different look by using COLOR TILE, also under the EFFECTS tab. I used Example 4. Color Tile, resize, then pixelate again. and got this: Example 5 This example was done using the one annotated in blues. After I pixelated it, I rotated it 45 degrees and pixelated again. Rotate -45, And smart crop before outputing. Example 6 I liked the way the edges turned out, so I comp'd it on a white bg and made a birthday card out of it, using dings, Example 7 This is how the red annotated one came out after pixelating once, cropping out a section I liked, and then pixelating again. Example 8 This is how I finished it with dings. Example 9 The fun of this exercise is you never know what you're going to get - go experiment and see what you can do! There are some more examples in the directory below, converted to jpgs to save on file size. Backgrounds |
