HAT AND HATBOX

This hat is so simple to make and can be put on a stand or used without one. The hatbox is made using cylinder at Gifworks. Now one bit of advice from what I learned making these. Some backgrounds will change in the shade of color from it's original after you do cylinder. So what I did first was to get my background and take it to Gifworks and use cylinder and use that to color in my hat so that both will have the same coloring.

I made one hat, finished the whole thing, made the box and they were totally different shades of purple. Well you know I couldn't have that and had to make the hat all over again. So to avoid that, make the box first and if it is different than do as I suggested before coloring the hat.

Step 1. Find a background for your hatbox and resize it to 180x150! (don't forget to put that exclamation point after your numbers or it won't change) Draw - LINE Offset #'s: 0,25 180,25 Choose a color that will accent your box to look like the top is a cover and use the color under Stroke Color - width 2. Now I found putting another line under it in black and width of one, it looks shaded. So for this line in Stroke black 0,26 180,26 (If this doesn't do it, just change the number 26 to 27 in both places. Now a line at the top and the bottom. 0,2 180,2 For the bottom: 0,148 180,148

Step 2. At this point you can decorate or go to Gifworks Effects and Cylinder. You can come back to I.M. and decorate. Sometimes when you decorate first and then do cylinder it will change the looks of the original image. Output as a gif and save.

Making the Hat:

Step 1. At Image Magick put a clear bg 200x200. Draw - Ellipse - Offset numbers: 100,100 95,40 0,360 color White. Up to Draw again - Ellipse and just change the numbers: 100,75 50,40 0,360 Now you have a white hat to color in with a background using Atop and Misc (or some need to use IN and MISC depending on your upgrade you are on) Now decorate your hat. Note: These hats are not like my other picture hats with a hat band so decorate to camouflage that missing hat band. I've drawn a line on some and you can't really tell it's not a band. LOL Now to finish off, Transform - Trim Output - Single File - Gif.

Hat Stand:

Step 1. Take a background 20x160. I used a gold stand or you can color it white and then fill in with any other bg you want. Go to Gifworks - CylinderSave as a gif.

Step 2. Clear bg 192x250 This is so that we can composite all our parts we made. First we must make a base to put the stand on.

Step 3. Go up to Draw and Ellipse 96,220 30,20 0,360 Color - same as post.

Step 4. Composite cylinder post South +0+27

Step 5. Composite hat North +0+0 ALL DONE Output as a gif - single file.
