Using Translate

There are so many things that haven't been ventured into and translate is one of them. I've experimented with it awhile ago but haven't done much with it since.

When you are making one of the draws, such as an ellipse and you want to do a couple more adjoining the center one you will just use Translate. I've done a couple of examples using an Ellipse and another using Rectangle. Any of the designs can be used, just takes a little figuring out.

I'll try to explain it step by step in the easiest way I know how with the examples I made. Hope you will try one.

NOTE: Make the two side ones first without a fill color and then do the center one using the fill color. These go for the other designs as well. The reason for this is so your center one does not have the lines cutting into the center design. I started mine on white backgrounds.

Step 1. Make a background of 350x350 (I used white)Go to Draw and click on Ellipse

Step 2. Numbers: 175,175 80,100 0,360 Color Fill - none Stroke Color (your choice) I used #9c8c59 Stroke Width 2 Scroll down to Translate Make it -40.0 0,0 Click on Draw

Step 3. Exact same as in Step 2 but make it Translate 40 (no minus) You now have an oval on left and right.

Step 4. Up to Draw and just change the Ellipse middle numbers to 175,175 90,120 0,360 (slightly bigger) - now use White this time in Fill Color This covers up the lines from the left and right one. Important: Make sure you take out that translate number and put back the 0.0, 0,0 before you do the middle oval. You can now Matte out the insides of the ovals and composite a scenery or an image using Dstover Decorate if you want or composite a background by matting out the background and using Dstover and Misc. or just put in a color of your choice for the bg and upload it as a jpg.

Example 2 using Rectangles

Step 1. Doing the same method as the above only this time we will use Draw and RectangleNumbers: 90,70 260,280 -30 (minus) in Translate Now same numbers but use just 30 (no minus)

Step 2. Middle one: 70,50 280,300 Fill - white Stroke #9c8c59 Width 2 NOTE: take out the translate number before you draw the middle one. That's it.

NOTE:This is the image I used on the girls at the piano which was one already framed I did on my pc and I liked the way it came out so kept it. Any image will do just so as it fits across the width and height.
