![]() by Morgaine O'Faery Patsy, the pancake pony, was born on an island far across the sea. For the first three years of her life, she and her playmates roamed the hills and woodlands of Wales and came to the stableyard for their breakfast and dinner. When the weather was very wet or cold they slept in the stables, but when it was fine, they slept out under the stars. Sometimes, in the evenings, when the purple twilight met the indigo of night, Patsy saw what she thought might be the welsh dragon streak across the sky. Once or twice she even thought she saw the shadow of a unicorn vanish among the trees in a certain wood where mushrooms grew in rings. Faeries were said to dance there when the moon was full, but Patsy had never seen that happen, but someday she hoped that she would. |
