We need only to open our eyes to see
A world full of trouble and cares
Would any needs at all be met
If it depended on only our prayers?
How often we say, "I'll pray for you"
And merrily on we go
Never giving a thought to the need again
And the one who's hurting so
Lord, forgive us of our complacency
When we're neither hot nor cold
For our selfishness and passivity
In the security of your fold
How your heart must truly grieve
To see us wander away
So much from your hand we receive
As we look to you each day
Blessings too many to number
You've bestowed upon our souls
Awaken us, we pray, from slumber
To work within the fold

May the needs not be left to our brother
But help us reach out as we're inspired
To meet the needs of another
And work heartily until the task is done
