Yore Paw has a job. It's the first one he's had in the forty-eight years since we have been married. We are a little better off now because we have so much money now we don't know what to do with it. Paw went and bought himself a new banjo t'other day and he's about to drive me crazy beatin' on the thang. Paw gets $47.15 every Thursday, so we thought we ought to do somethin' about fixin' up the house.
We looked through the Sears & Roebuck catalog at all them nice thangs they have for sale. Over on the other side is a little white thang they call a sink where you wash your face and hands, now ain't that somethin'? what in tarnation is this world a comin' to?
But over in the corner we really got somethin'. This dang thang is amazin' , you put one foot in, wash it clean, then you pull the chain get fresh water for the other foot. Two lids come with the thang. We got no use for 'em in the bathroom so I'm a usin' one for a bread board. The other lid has a hole in it so your Paw is a makin' it into a frame for a picture of his Paw on his beloved horse Hank. Him and that ole horse used to do tricks at county fairs and rodeos. Sears & Roebuck are real nice people to deal with.I cut out this picture from the catalog, of their store in Kansas City, thought you might jest like seein' it. They even sent us a roll of paper with the outfit. We can't write on it very well, so I'm a usin' it to wrap Paw's lunch in.
Take care of yoreself son

Dear Son:
We decided to buy one of them bathrooms you hear about people havin' inside their houses. It took a plumber to put it in shape. On one side of the bathroom is a great long thang somethin' like a pig trough, only you get in it and wash yoreself all over.
