What with several mass killings in recent months you can be sure there is going to be a renewed effort by President Obama and Congress to get more and tougher gun laws passed this year. Most liberals have been wanting to pass very strict gun laws in America for a long time, and many would like to see the ownership of guns by private citizens banned altogether in America.

Robert Stewart killed seven residents and one nurse at this facility.
Our new president left no doubt where he stood on the issue of gun control when he was in the Illinois State Senate, he voted for every gun control bill that came up for a vote during the time he held that office.. And as president you can be very sure his signature will go on any gun control bill that crosses his desk.

When men find themselves in a position where they can no longer provide even the basic necessities for their familes many find they just can't cope with the stress and the pressure. Some turn to alchohol, some to drugs, some go on welfare, some just walk away from their families, and unfortunately some lose all self control, grab a gun, and go on a shooting rampage.
Thirteen were killed in a mass shooting at this immigration services center in Binghamton, N.Y. Jiverly Wong, immigration center mass murderer
There have been several mass killings in the last couple of months. They were all committed by men, and all but one ended up killing themselves after their shooting rampage was over. It is my personal belief that such men were already emotionally and most likely mentally unstable. Such tragedies are so very sad, but to think for a moment that passing laws to prevent people from possessing guns is going to stop such senseless violence is ludicrous. Proponents of stricter gun control laws say it will mean a safer America and save thousands of lives every year. While it is true that stricter gun control laws will save lives it is also true that it will not make for a safer America. in fact it will make a much more dangerous America.
For the harder our government makes it for people to own guns the higher the crime rate will rise because citizens will have no weapons to defend themselves. No matter how many gun control laws are passed they will always be available on the black market, just as illegal drugs are easy to buy for those who are willing to pay the price for them. guns will always be easy to buy for those who intend to commit criminal acts. Statistics have shown time and time again that the vast majority of Americans who own guns never use them illegally.
They are law abiding citizens who keep a gun in the house to protect their family against intruders whose intent is to rob them or do them bodily harm, and possibly even kill them.

Then there are the sports enthusiasts who love to hunt, and law abiding citizens who collect guns as a hobby.
Frank Q. Newton, gun collector
I personally hate guns with a passion, just to look at one scares me, but I am a firm supporter of the second amendment which guarantees citizens the right to keep and bear arms.

Our founding fathers recognized the need for allowing citizens the right to own firearms as a means to protect their families and their property. as well as for the sport of hunting. Read what some of them had to say about the right to own a weapon. along with quotes by other famous Americans.
"The great object is that every man be armed and everyone who is able may have a gun."
.....
"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?"
Thomas Jefferson, Third President of the United States
(Jefferson Papers, p. 334, C.J. Boyd, 1950)
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not."
Thomas Jefferson
The Federalist Papers at 184-188
"What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms."
Thomas Jefferson was without a doubt one of the most ardent defenders of the right of the American people to keep and bear arms. In my personal opinion he ranks in the top five of America's greatest presidents, and the following is one of my favorite quotes by this great man:
"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution".

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."
--Thomas Sowell, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institute, author, syndicated columnist
"To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them".
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword, because the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops.
And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press, or the right of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; ...or to prevent the people from petitioning , in a peaceable and orderly manner; or to subject the people to unreasonable searches and seizures of their persons, papers or possessions."
(Signed Declaration of Independence, organized the Sons of Liberty, participated in Boston Tea Party, Member of Continental Congress, Governor of Massachusetts)
One of the ordinary modes by which tyrants accomplish their purposes without resistance is by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms."
If these quotes don't convince you of how important tthe Second Amendment is to the continued freedom and existence of our beloved America maybe this quote by one of the most evil tyrants in the history of the world will.
The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so. --
