This procedure is very controversial. Many say it has no effect...that because we are protected from getting a virus, we can't get e-mail addy worms. I make no attempt to say otherwise. It is quite possible they are absolutely correct. However, if you believe as I do, that it is better to do and wish you had not....than not to do and wish you had, this tute is for you. The procedure is quite simple. 1. Add this "name" to your addy book (~~~AAAA~~~) 2. For the "e-mail address", insert someone@nowhere.com The above name should appear at the top of your addy book. If it does not, modify it as necessary to place it there. According to the prescribed theory, if you have received a Forwarded e-mail from an infected computer, the worm will invade your addy book and attempt to use your e-mail addys to send "worm-mail". In theory, it will start at the top of the list and if that addy is rejected, the worm is stopped from doing it's thing to the rest of the addys in your addy book. If this procedure works, that's terrific. If it doesn't work, so what. What has been lost....less than two minutes of effort and one of the many addy spaces in your addy book. Need I say more? |
