HOW TO WRITE E-MAILS
OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME

For Short-Term Retention......

You can write an e-mail over an almost infinite period of time.  You can begin writing the e-mail on January 1st, add to it each week or month and finally send it on December 31st if you wish.  Perish the thought, but what a great way to compose your annual Christmas letter that you send to all your relatives during the holidays.

Simply write the first part of your e-mail and send it to yourself @web/tv.net.  Using a slash between web and tv or some other character not allowed in our e-mail system will cause the e-mail to be returned instantly.

When the e-mail is returned, it will include a message from the WebTV postmaster stating that the e-mail address had "bad address syntax", meaning it wasn't put together right.  Included in this message will be two clickable buttons..."Edit Message" and "Show Details".

By clicking the Edit button, you will be returned to your original e-mail Write screen with all the previously typed text intact.  You can continue to add to the text until you are ready to stop again...or to send it.

Each time you re-send it to the invalid e-mail addy, it will come back with another Edit button.

When you have finished composing the e-mail, erase the imvalid addy and enter the correct e-mail addy to whom you wish to send the e-mail.  This time, it will go through without a hitch.

For Long-Term Retention......

When the e-mail to the invalid addy comes back to you...DON'T open it.

Instead, go to Clean up and Save it.  Saving it will turn off the red mail light.  In addition, the e-mail subject line will remain highlighted so that it's easy to find.  It's also a reminder to you that it is something that is a "work-in-progress", so to speak, and therefore needs to be worked on some more to be completed.

Many thanks to my friend Tex (Texxon) for his assistance in making this tute possible.  To see his Help Pages, Click Here.  My thanks also to John (JG B) for his assistance with the "long-term" commentary and to Outpost for his idea of how to create a safe invalid addy.
