JIM'S BATCH1(Acrylics On Canvas)
Back to the Celebrity Portraits Theme.
I am kinda proud about these, "my children." The metaphor being that anything you create holds a special place in your soul. It's not just materials (though the canvas and paint are extremely worthy investments!). It's a definitive craft,
and I've toiled thousands of hours (at least hundreds) immersed in it, in order to achieve this type of outcome. By the way---though I toot my own horn about how great this stuff here is, I also fully realize and accept that there are literally hundreds of thousands (well, at least tens of thousands) of artists out here who can do this style of paint to canvas. I could let that bother me, as I am, in part, a competitive person. My outer shell hides that ego/pride part well, but the fact remains, I have grown up with whims to become that stereotypical "starving artist who suddenly gets discovered, and takes the artworld by storm!" But, the final point is: that I have learned through the beginnings of my "middle" age, to tolerate others who vie for similar accolades, and at my best, encourage them with all sincerity; letting go all the instincts which suggest I need appear as "talented," or as aesthetically hip, as my artistic peers. If these paintings have any value aside from a dollar value (for me, anyhow), it is that they are representative of a person who is confident and happy doing his small bit for art and peace, but whom works toward the highest possible ideal. O.k., enough about ME! [Until the next page!]
