~A Very Special Day~
Memorial Day

Our Veterans are a very special group of men and women. Be it those that have gone home to be with Jesus or the ones God is so graciously watching over. Not long ago I was sent a web page about our one last remaining World War One Veteran thats 107 years old. I pray God's very special blessing on him and all the others.

These men and now women are very special. They give up their homes, their lives, their jobs, everything to fight for our country. Many have and are making the supreme sacrifice to help others. When they come home, they need much loving care and tender support. They go from an environment of intense chaois and not knowing what will happen next to one they have to play catch up. It causes bad dreams, nightmares, and other terrible things. All these take a long time to control. Its very difficult for them. They are anxious to see family and friends however, they havent seen them for a long time and it probably feels awkward to them. As I said, they need much tender loving care and understanding and support.

These special people also need much support while they are gone. Letters, emails, phone calls mean so much to them. And it keeps them in touch with those they love at home and they know they arent forgotten. How devestating it would be to a soldier to feel he or she is fighting for what they believe in to keep the rest of us safe and have no contact from those at home. I cannot stress this enough. Pray for these brave men and women DAILY.

One thing our soldiers will treasure is letters from their children. Imagine the smile it will bring seeing the words, "Hi Daddy!" or "Hi Mom"! This is one thing that will keep them going. And unless I miss my guess, these letters will be carried with them in their pockets until they are shredded.

Dear Daddy

In todays world of technology it makes it possible for familys to talk via computer. Grandpa and Grandma can keep in touch with their grandchildren. And Mom and Dad can email their son or daughter and encourage them. Let them know that they are always thinking about them and praying for them.

My Son

It is imperitive that husband or wife keep in touch with their spouses. Yes, its difficult, very difficult to maintain a relationship or especially a marriage when one is at home and the other is half way around the world. However, this is one of God's tests to make both of those involved and the relationship stronger. And it's also when we look to God for His guidance, direction, and strength to see us through.

My Husband

The holidays are an especially hard time for our soldiers. In particular, Christmas. The most holy night of the year is when families want and should be together. And to be in a land far from home with so much dischord and not home to help put decorations up, or see the delight on the kids faces when they see those new bikes is expectionally hard on our soldiers.

Christmas Eve

It needs to be repeated what special people our Troops and our Veterans are. Without God and them, our great Nation wouldnt be what it is. For our soldiers to go so far from home and fight for others is just about the most selfless thing I can think of. And to do it for strangers they cant understand. To those of you that have lost a loved one, be proud of them for their sacrifice. And in time, carry on. Because that's what they would want you to do.
